Latest on The Guardian website from Jacob Steinberg is that Bowen is asking for a release clause in his contract if wet Spam get relegated. He seems to be up for a fight then I don't think.

Sounds like a bit of a cock. Never played in the premiership yet expecting to be one of a West Ham’s best paid players?!

Please fall through! Feeling fed up, but Spam missing out too would at least be something. SSN saying he wants 80k pw too. Agent or player may be getting a little greedy if true.

Yes he has a release clause - we could still pick him up in the summer. Take more than him to save the Spammers

I think they're entitled to ask for a relegation clause to be put in but 80k is steep for someone who is unproven inthe prem. I think he will be decent but 80k is a lot... if what we read is true of course. Originally posted by Harry Beever

It's difficult to know to believe nowadays and I'm not that Roy always tells the truth either. Roy is claiming that we never tried to buy him at all but merely wanted him on loan which is completely different to the reports in the media that we had an £Xm fee accepted. I guess that what Roy really meant was that we couldn't afford to buy him and that possibly sums up why we failed in most of our supposed targets

Clubs teetering on the edge tend to put in clauses halving a player's wages if the are relegated so why shouldn't players do the same

We never even came close to signing him.

Wake up everyone, we have not got any money. Why do you think the Americans invested money into a club they have absolutely zero emotional interest in? Same as Arsenal, no funds for transfers, American owner skimming highest match day revenues in football to pay for a new stadium for his beloved LA Rams. Never to be seen in England.

Roy's comments make the whole window sound even worse. At least in the summer it seemed we were trying to get bodies in, like Chalov, whereas it seems we really were looking to spend only a little over diddly squat this window. Also, why in the Lord's name would Hull be looking to loan Bowen? Bournemouth were candid and said "We don't have any money to spend". I wish the club could have just said that to us and prevented another frustrating window. Anyway, West Ham showed again that their issue is not going forward it's at the back. Is Bowen really any better than Antonio, Anderson, Lanzini or Snodgrass?
