I am sure the players did everything asked of them and probably their training leading up to this game concentrated on what Hodgson wanted.Get behind the ball, stay disciplined, stay in shape, close the spaces, allow Chelsea to have the ball etc etc - It's a hard sell to the players. We were fed a diet of utter dross.
We should've taken more risks, after all we were at home. Hears Hoping for a more attacking display against Wolves.

You don't need to be gung-ho but we have always "had a go" at the bigger clubs, this year at home to Liverpool, Spurs and Arsenal, just cannot understand why we didn't go for it in last 20-25 minutes, I think I would have preferred this to what I witnessed

Why is no one willing to have a pop from 20 yards? Why are the set plays so atrocious? That corner from Meyer right at the end that hit the first Chelsea player summed it all up - an excellent chance to deliver a ball into the mix and have someone attack it, totally fluffed. What do they do in training?

it was a 1-0 game sadly wrong end, negative yes could we have done more yes, does Roy have a plan b no. right if Conner is fit play him he is getting himself in the right places as a striker should, Mc does work hard but is better getting himself in box hence his goals in support, creative midfield player we keep on about cabaye he wasnt fit enough to last 90 mins or 60 and he knew this. roy needs to change to get the best out of the players we have, jose found out to his cost no change no job. still dont think we are in trouble but things need to change

Let's be honest that was the worse capitulation at home to a top 6 club that we have had in this recent PL stay. You would be pressed to find any worse stats to find in terms of shots and on target than us yesterday. Roy even admitted we were set up for a 0-0 draw from the outset. Frankly the whole matter was disgraceful from the kick off. Edited by Booted Eagle (31 Dec 2018 6.44pm)

I thought Palace were just too passive for most of the game. It became almost like a training exercise in keeping the ball for Chelsea. I understand Roy's argument that trying to play open football against Chelsea could lead to a heavy defeat, but once we went a goal behind I hoped for a more positive response. Do we really think that though ? Why not have a go from the start and adapt if we are under the cosh ? Awful mindset to already accept that you might take a panning before even a kick. No wonder the whole performance was lacklustre.

Are posters saying we should revert to the expansive, attacking style favoured by Alan Pardew?

No wonder the whole performance was lacklustre. I said I understood Roy's argument - I didn't say I agreed with it ! However, we are among the lowest goal scorers in the league. Man City game apart, the team only convert a very small percentage of chances they create. So even '' having a go '' doesn't necessarily equate to scoring goals, and playing that way gives Chelsea the space to punish us. My real criticism is that having gone a goal down early in the second half, there was no meaningful response until the last ten minutes.

Lots of people on here complaining about the performance today being tough on the supporters who paid the money/made the effort and went to the game, but can anyone actually remember us having an exciting match in the post-Christmas period in living memory? As I remember it, most times our lot have played like they've overdosed on pudding and were running through custard. I think the 12 o’clock kick off and Sky coverage added to a lacklustre performance. Come to think of it have we actually turned it on at all when Sky have have covered our games this season?
