Until fans step back and realise that the rot is at the top, palace will never change.

Too many fans are still accepting this as our most successful period.

Being in the premier league, struggling every season, not learning from mistakes, making reactionary signings to please the fans... changing managers at an alarming rate, that's not enjoyable or successful.

It may be profitable to Parish and co, using side company assets and charging the club etc as one example of their success, but us, the paying fan, what success is it?

Having 3 worse teams and a lucky streak each season isn't success.

We could have fielded a stronger side against Boro and won, still lost today but this week would have been viewed as a success - why, because in the cup at that stage, we were a success.

Let's be totally honest - a football club is entertainment - simple as that, it goes a lot deeper for some but why we do it, is for the love, the entertainment it brings either socially, aesthetically, whatever. What entertainment has the last 2 months bought?

If we can't compete in this league, if we don't try and compete in this league, why bother being in it?

Until fans realise that the prem isn't the be all and end all... and that a good, entertaining, gelled performance is what we want to see, the quicker parish will have to do something about it.

Entertainment is exactly what supporting a football team is about. Who you support is a matter of choice, its not obligatory. I have supported Palace over 50 years and have known we will never break into the top table of football clubs, but its my local team.
It is further away now, than at any time, even though we are in the Premier now. When you have £1.2billion and £1.3 billion invest in Chelsea and Man City respectively by foreign investors, we cant compete. We will never attract that type of investment, as we haven't the history or potential.
Watching football in the Premier is far more entertaining than watching the Championship, even though we don't win as much.

the quality of football is higher, but i reckon the quality of entertainment in the Championship is better....more goals, more unpredictable, more proper fans, less overpaid idiots, less billionaire clubs.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

Not even on the bench again. This is what I don't understand - Hodgson brought on AWB at the end of last season and he has done really well, but he won't given any other youngsters a chance. You look at the bench today and there were no options for changing the game.

As others have said, we have stood still or gone backwards whilst other teams have progressed. Sorry, but we really need to get in a younger manager with fresh ideas.

I think it’s because, like it or not , Kai Kai is pony . Been to charlton and Brentford and not done a lot. Know a few at charlton that were glad that he went, but quickly realised that he wasn’t very good.
You think if he struggles at league 1 he will do well against David luis and Alonso ?
He’s 23. Not a raw talent, like Ian Wright , he’s had years of top level coaching ,?
His only plus is he’s from Southwark, who want a tenner that he’s sitting on the bench at bromley or similar level in 2 years ?
Hope I’m wrong, but I won’t be.

Only Morons.

We never ever play Spurs and expect to win.

I'll say it again. Roy is quality.

Our owners need to realise that Benteke didn't happen like they expected. We didn't advance as they'd hoped.
Now they must quickly recognise that and buy another couple of players who can make goals happen.
We have to beat the teams in the bottom half and to do that you need to be able to score. we will always concede goals with the quality in this league.

We won't go down because fortunately there are 5 teams (Huddersfield, Southampton, Fulham, Cardiff, Newcastle) worse than us. We need a complete re vamp in the closed season. Sell Zaha and buy a decent striker and playmaker in midfield.

Jesus.

Sell one of the best players we ever had?

What a breathtakingly dumb idea.

No chance of RLC on loan in January so lets get in a decent striker in.

You've not really said much in your post though really have you? No one is expecting us to compete for champions league and no one is saying you need a billionaire to survive this league.

However, i completely disagree with you regarding potential.. we have massive potential, if we had someone who was able to see how to unlock it. Look at our catchment area, the capital is miles away, we would be great for someone who wanted to do it.

Watching football in the prem is far more entertaining than the champ, even tho we don't win as much.. well depends on what team you are looking at, palace or the opposition.

Get a decent youth set up going. Create more home grown talent - make your money that way.

Have a good scouting network - save some money that way.

Enjoy decent cup runs - make entertainment on the side

Get to 40 points in the quickest time possible.

This is what we should be doing now, after 6 years in the prem.

Not sacking a manager, bringing in a new one with money thrown at him... fail to properly back him, watch them walk, repeat repeat repeat.

Can't see the forest from the trees people....

This summer - Roy should have been backed to build around Wilf. Hence the big contract offered to him.

Or... sell Wilf, change up a lot of players, generate cash, have a new manager lined up and totally back him to rebuild his way.

Wilf is gone in the summer - all we have done is stemmed the bleeding a year and for what? The 50 mil we could have got for wilf could have allowed us to bring in RLC on loan, an extra two/three more players to compete for striker and squad.

We cannot afford to be a one man team - there is no plan b with that.
