If we sell AWB we need to sign a very good and quick replacement either on loan or permanently, as for me Ward is just far too slow for the PL these days. Positionally he is great, but teams know he is vulnerable if you just push the ball past him. If you look at PvA he is good on the front foot but teams exploited his defensive frailty recognising how strong we are on the right. If we end up with the same situation on both sides then we can wave goodbye to our defensive solidity.

Another factor in this is that I think Zaha's ego would struggle to cope with seeing a teammate join a big team, especially one as green as AWB. If he goes then I think Wilf will also push harder for a move. This in turn could turn into a domino rally with Sakho also pushing to leave. Hypothetical of course, but also very possible.

How far we’ve come in the last 7 years eh! Potentially selling a home grown full back for north of 40 million and still being confident that we can push on without him! I admire everyone’s positivity but personally I think we’ll suffer by selling him ... the lads class.

The problem for the top 6 is clubs like Palace no longer need to sell their best players to survive. The TV money has seen to that, unless a clubs wants to sell they have to pay over the odds.
The key objective for Parish and Freeman is to get AWB to sign a new contract, I believe he is the lowest paid first regular on £15,000 a week, but his contract expires 2022.

Some reports online saying it's agreed but working on the fee.
