Skilful, pleasing on the eye, but diasappointingly ineffectual for my liking. Still early days though.

Perhaps if he had a center forward he could play into feet, he may look better. We build up so slowly by the time we get anywhere near the box, it's almost impossible to play a decent ball in there.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Max Mayer' by bexleydave Very disappointed with Max Meyer again against League 2 opposition. Too lightweight to play as a holding midfield player. In comparison, Embleton (no 22) for Grimsby had an excellent game and looked the real deal. On loan from Sunderland, so maybe worth a cheeky offer.
Let's keep the ball this season! |

I am hoping the only reason he came off was because we didn't need a holding midfielder, so replaced him with a striker. Otherwise, I really hope he gets more game time. He really can add something

I like him, some people make their minds up on certain players and no matter what they do will always disregard their efforts ..hence not notice them on the pitch.

Made strong and direct passes out to the wings or to the central midfield. He was even up top a few times - and won 2 of the free kicks just outside the area in the first half. No idea how you missed him to be honest.

He collected the ball short a couple of times and played a couple of pases wide which he then followed in on, slowing the game up. That's when he wasn't taking one touch too many and being closed down and forced to play an obvious, albeit success, pass which was easily tracked. Spent most of the time ghosting about in the middle not affecting anything when not in possession.
