If he was called Jared Rockwell fans would be screaming for him to get sold by now. He has been at this club for 2 seasons and barely managed to get a look in. When he has played he hasn’t looked particularly special against poor opponents. I can’t see what the fuss is about.

Agreed. If anyone wants him we should sell. We have a couple of lads in the U21's in midfield that could provide cover.

Seriously, what's going on, 12 PL apps in two years and costing almost 3 million a year in wages and contracted until 2022.
He's never going to leave voluntarily

let's hope a european club comes in soon, or can he play RB seeing as we have no cover there?

He does seem to be getting bigger by the day though..

could be in line for a run in the team at left back, a few decent performances and he may cement a place. even before Schlupp got injured he didn't look great defensively

Tbh Jairo didn’t look good either against Watford.

But was his first game since like, forever. So I’ll hold judgement

Good luck to him

The big problem for Jaďro is to find a position for him.
He’s not strong enough in the air or aggressive enough to play centre back.
He dwells on the ball and doesn’t get enough around the field for a midfield role in a Hodgson team.
He doesn’t stop crosses enough to play left back - witness the occasions against Watford.
Yet he’s a talented player with good skills ; a typical Dutch player through the Ajax academy.
Hodgson himself has said he’s one of the most talented players in the squad.
I think there is a player there , but perhaps not for Palace.

Left-back is certainly not his best position, and he struggled up against Sarr yesterday. But he was once a very highly-rated player with a lot of potential, and I'm sincerely hoping that he seizes his opportunity and impresses for us over the Christmas period.

In pre-season he brought the ball out from the back really well and he seems to be a very good passer of the ball, but when it comes to positioning and tackling I just don't see a good defender. I hope for his sake he gets a chance to prove himself (and me wrong) as he has been very patient. It probably helps him that defending isn't PvA or Schlupp's strength either!

Alarm bells ring when you see a player playing at full back facing a dribbling winger square on like he did vs Watford. A one two and he was in a tangle and on the floor. He should be side on facing the nearest touch line keeping the defender on the outside of him, especially in today’s football with insidebout wingers.

It was his first game in but a very basic requirement at LB. THE VERY BASIC.

Yes, he wasn't very convincing, he played about a quarter of this games for Ajax at left back, although a different system, I think with Schlupp and PVA possibly out for a while, it will be make or break for his Palace career.

Similar to my post on Sorloth.

He's barely played in two and a half years. It might take a few games to get match sharpness back.

Looking forward to seeing him get a chance.
