That's a shocking analogy as whilst A is for the good of the club B is only good for a small number of Palace fans

Alternatively A is to make more money, B is because some kids have a sense of entitlement and feel like moving.

Plus, and I hate to micturate onto anyone's french fries, it's a manufactured 'atmosphere'. The rest of the ground only really joins in when there's something to get excited about on the pitch. Probably because they don't know half of the 'songs' anyway. For large parts of games it's just a drum banging and a droning sound, which is a lot louder on TV because of strategically placed microphones.

I much prefer the organic way a chant or song spreads out along the terraces, increasing in volume as it goes on. It isn't necessary to drone for 90 minutes and neither is it acceptable to drown out another song or chant because it wasn't on the HFs 'playlist.

This is interesting as we usually sit in the AW not far from the HF and the sound is impressive but localised - for a couple of games I sat with my kids in the main stand directly opposite the away support. Couldn't hear the HF which was drowned out completely by the away supporters noise. Strangely Man U and Man City were particularly loud.

Be sad to hear the chant of "is this a library" from the visitors

I am in block A & believe the HF do add some atmosphere & do some good stuff, but they need to accept some reality, they can’t move yet, until a new group of seats become available & a larger singing section can be achieved.

Get over it & support the team, they appear to feel an unrealistic entitlement & often undo their good work with their OTT effort to be noticed, it’s not about them at all, it’s always about the eleven Palace players on the pitch.

For once we totally agree. Rehousing the people is completely different. Those people had a right to complain on the planning application and only one did. The planning application was granted and the properties demolished as part of new build and current people re-homed.

In the other case it is much more complex. Possibly Club could have contacted current season ticket holders
and asked their view and if there was agreement then facilitated a change. The standing position is also an issue as the law is at present it is illegal to stand. It matters little what anyone's views on safe standing are, but until the law changes the club can not been seen to support illegal actions. This group tends to stand and this is generally accepted by others in the area. Moving them into another block will almost cause complaints from others and probably a lot more than 100.

In another thread it was claimed the club were willing to discuss moving them. This was probably after the new stand was built or after a possible law change

No, I do not think anyone is joking. We have a great set of fans when it comes to big games, but we owe the noise to the HF the rest of the time.

I remember what it was like before the HF. We were loud in comparison to most clubs, but we were not regarded as having the best home support in the country.

I'm sorry but this is a myth. We were never loud compared to other clubs. In fact we were pretty quiet.

Who remembers all the "stand up if you love palace" chants that were sung in vain to try and get people to stand up and sing?

I don't know why people try to rewrite history and say we were loud when we weren't at all.

from what I see on the telly and the odd away game, the atmosphere in English football has died.

at Selhurst there are good moments, but an awful lot of silence too.

I think of the HF as embers. when things get exciting, they allow the whole place to fire up without feeling too self conscious. you know roughly when a lot of singing will emanate from them and for it to feel enough to join in with.

I suspect that without them, it'll just take more exciting moments to get people involved. only time will tell (assuming they're not replaced and don't re emerge elsewhere).

to my mind, if English football doesn't benefit atmosphere wise from people sitting in the same seats & getting older together. humans aren't made to randomly shout for 90 minutes. are you gonna keep doing that week in, week out for decades sitting next to people who stare at you like a freak if you sing on your own? probably not. the more inhibited you feel, the more inhibited I'll feel if I'm next to you.

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

Kids? How patronising! I guarantee these "kids" have done a lot more for the club than a washed up middle aged man like you.

The move was supposed to be for the whole fan base, not just the HF.

''Shocking''..............seriously?
I think the analogy was perfectly sound.

It makes me laugh when those who clearly don't like/want the HF anywhere near our club continually 'over-egg the pudding' when responding.
