Well we've lost a significant chunk off our wage bill this summer with the likes of Sako, RLC, Cabaye and Lee leaving, not to mention other lesser paid players. It all adds up! I doubt Ayew would've been on loads at Swansea and Meyer, despite probably having relatively high wages, seems like a good financial investment when considering his age and the fact there is no initial transfer fee.

We’ve released a load of wages, saved some this summer and always had a transfer budget, just not £40 mil. How close we are to how much in wages have left I’m not sure but it looks like we’re under to me.

Cabayes wages pretty much offset kouyatés and between sako, riedewald and Lee surely that covers the other 2, Note: all these figures are estimates only if someone has more concrete figures please feel free to speak up.

Pretty pleased with all 3 of these of they do all come off. All in all I think they are upgrades on what we had last season. Love Cabaye but getting on and RLC excellent but only in patches when not injured. Sako had a good 6 games in 3 years. One downside is that in January we will lose wilf, kouyate and ayew for a month or so assuming all their teams are in the afcon plus schlupp and souaré possibly. Stupid tournament.

I thought Afcon wasn’t during our season anymore. It’s the 7th to 30th June! Edited by Rudi Hedman (01 Aug 2018 5.19pm)

From SSN: just now Crystal Palace are awaiting international clearance before announcing the signing of Max Meyer, according to Sky sources.

Plus lets remember its not beyond the realms of impossibility that we do have money to spend and just didn't want to get rinsed. we may make all these deals for good money then splash out 24 mill on Ings.
