These people operate sensibly. They spend within their means. They are prudent and act inside FFP rules. We grow slowly but sustainably; and always profitably. I think these are good things.

I have highlighted your last sentence as I can only assume that you are responding to somebody else's post as I never said this or remotely suggested it.

This is becoming somewhat boring now. You have said that administrations have hampered subsequent owners ability to invest in infrastructure and I have pointed out twice that that simply isn't the case. The owners that buy a club out of admiminstration (especially CPFC2010) get a debt-free, clean sheet to work with, and in their case paid a bargain price. Now if you can't understand that then I really can't be bothered to explain it again. You'll just have to work it out for yourself.

Oh where to begin.

Having a good transfer window for once.

Selling a player or two and actually making some money rather than letting them all walk on free transfers.

Not allowing a seriously dodgy keeper (at times) to go unchallenged for years, because a foreign keeper didnt settle, then inexplicably wasnt replaced window after window.

Dont make a fool of the manager by not addressing specific areas re transfers where the manager himself has gone public asking for a certain position to be signed.

Hanging on to fire Pardew, not weeks, but several months too late.

Not waiting until the very end of the transfer window every single time, thus leaving ourselves open to transfers falling apart and having no time to sort out a plan B. See Niasse, Oumar.

Having at least 1 fit senior striker available at all times.

Allowing a proper pre season where the manager can actually bed in new signings (I assume we will make some).

Not spending 2 weeks too long fiddling about with a manager search, then appointing a manager famed for possession based football to run a team built on counter attacking style. Having made the decision, watched a good performance against Burnley where we should have won, tweeting about solidarity, then firing the guy after 4 games.

Managing the squad properly so as to not create a situation where half the first team is out of contract at the same time.

All sounds about right to me

not sure why people are getting upset.

we dont really need to sign many players we have a good squad as it is.

we need to try & replace cabaye granted, we have a squad capable of staying up so all is good

our close competitors like whu have spunked a lot, and i mean an awful lot of money this summer, and bournmouth are rumoured to be spending 57m on 2 players who had ok world cups.

if thats where the markets at were best off saving money for january if we need to spend then.

unless we sell a starter then lets look for a few rough diamonds and take a punt on them

And no, for the second time I did not say that. I think we can agree on your first sentence.

Was on a train back from the West Country last week and sat opposite Barry Silkman (used to play for us amongst others now an agent.)

Nice bloke to chat to especially about the era of the 'Team of the 80's) an era when I first started regularly to go to Palace.

He indicated that it is a worst kept secret in football right now that we have no money to spend this summer unless we sell but that outside the players in the first team there is no one anyone wants to pay real money for. It seems we are still paying off old fees for some players not even at the club any more.

Worrying if true

That last sentence smells like bullsh1t. Who have we sold who would’ve cost so much when we bought them we’d still be paying off the instalments? Murray? Free. Bolasie? £400k. Gayle? Sold at a profit and only cost about £6 mil.

Mate, if that last bit is made up by an agent then how much of the rest of it is? Parish is very good over closing shop over rumours, budgets and intentions and I wouldn’t trust a slippery snake with a packet of crisps, let alone intentions or budgets worth millions.

Another season, another relegation struggle.

It's clear that we have no ambition beyond staying up and that is fine, except that eventually, we will go down with that mindset, probably when wilf gets sold.

Realistically, there is no way we can compete with the top 8 without a much bigger revenue stream and wealthier owners.

Cabaye if the amount was spread over 4 years. He was worth it though.

I assume we'll bring in 2-3 on loan as we do every year. Arsenal brought in an up-and-coming French central midfielder, so maybe either him or Elneny would be available. If Ings can't get a permanent move, he'll probably be shipped out on loan too, and maybe Origi will be available this time around in the Prem. McTominay would be great as well alongside Luka and McArthur.

rough diamonds these days cost at least 10M each. Apparently we don't even have that.
