Willo, why would you think that Huddersfield that have scored only one goal in the last eight games will suddenly start scoring a hatful against three top six teams. Why do you think that Stoke that have only won once in 16 games start turning teams over. Our problem hasn't been scoring goals, we have scored 7 in the last five, it has been the inability to close games out, but when three of those teams are United, Liverpool and Spurs with all the striking options and the pedigree they have its understandable. Personally I think Southampton will get out of it as their run in is slightly better that the others. As for pressure this effects all the teams currently in the dogfight at least we have a manager who has seen it and done it two times before. The odds have actually improved after the Bournemouth game so I am not unduly worried. there is a possibility we may get relegated because anything can happen in football, but hey lets just relax until the last fixture.

Southampton's is against Swansea, meaning they both can't get 3 points from the extra game, so for at least one of them it can't be an advantage over us. Given the results the top 6 tend to get against everyone and the results those in the bottom 10 get, I'd suggest playing the teams in the bottom 10 is easier and that's true at any point in the season. Hodgson has to say that out of respect and not to look like he's assuming we can just turn up and win. The reality is though that if you played all the games from now until the end of the season 10,000 times we'd stay up over 90% of the time. I'm definitely worried and will be nervous at all of the games until it's settled one way or the other, but I am not predicting we'll go down as all the actual evidence suggests it's unlikely. Let us not forget that you said we'd lose to Hull last season despite their poor form away from home and despite the fact that they generally weren't a very good team. You also predicted we'd go down in previous seasons and were wrong. If we're making predictions it would be sensible to assume that any you make will be a load of old hogwash. Edited by CambridgeEagle (09 Apr 2018 4.34pm) The evidence suggested Fulham in Hodgson's first season were unlikely to stay up when after 33 games (Which we have played this season) they were 6 points from safety.Fulham somehow managed to get 12 pts from their final 5 games and stayed up on goal difference. So lets not assume that the clubs around us with so called "Harder" games won't surprise a few people and disappoint us.Clubs which include those above us with a game in hand.

Willo's negativity has invoked far too much positivity on this thread. It is the hope that kills you! The only way to survive a long term support of Palace is to fear the worst. Over the years we have seen far more let-downs than highlights. Much better to expect the worst and then be delighted if things go well (as the last 4 seasons have gone). Personally, I don't dare think we'll stay up, once I do that we are doomed!

you can look at our position in a positive light or negatively its not going to change things, what will be will be will be. But it is better to look at things logically and that is there are five teams that would gladly change places with us and I am sure everyone of those teams have their own "Willo" sitting around brooding. I prefer to stay positive and think our team has the Manager, the players and the confidence to get us over the line. Lets put it this way we are not in the position that WBA are and we were in a far worse position than that after 7 games. there is nothing to suggest we wont win all our remaining games which are far from daunting. As for nerves all the six teams around up will be equally nervous so who dares wins.

Come the end of the season I think we will just about survive relegation by the seat of our pants. I have to say that I am totally fed up with feeling anxious and worried come every April run in. If I am going to be honest I am s***ting myself about the game on Saturday against Brighton. The rivalry is one thing but the three points are crucial. Win this game and the biggest ever weight will be lifted from the shoulders of both club and supporters. COYP this rollercoaster we are on year on year is really making me quite sick this time round.

Look it's this simple - with the players we have available to us now we are a top 10 team. We are in an unrealistic position due to our start - 7 games, no points, no goals da de da. We've done brilliantly to be where we are - unlike everyone else we've had a 31 game season to get ourselves out of the sh@te - and we're nearly there. We'll be to good for the weed, then we'll beat Watford away and that will be enough - given the run ins of those around us. Then with what is left we'll finish mid table and you'll think what was all the fuss about. People wetting themselves on here, when we should be praising where are and the opportunity we've given ourselves - given our start and unprecedented injuries. COYP

We've dropped 7 points by conceding in the 5 minutes. That would be 10th right now.

I have no issue with people who are generally pessimistic and have a bad feeling we'll go down - of course it's far from impossible. But to suggest that any form of analysis, statistical or otherwise, points to us going down is simply lying - if it's not, feel free to post your evidence to the contrary.
