So are Palace your "second" team ?

Sorry, but if we were really the "better" team we should have won the game. We may be playing better than we were but we're still not scoring goals and defending our own goal well enough. Next week's result could determine the rest of our season as other teams are beginning to create clear blue water between them and us. It will get increasingly harder to get up to 17th place and beyond.

1. Did you go today? I have a feeling you didn't.
2. Have you watched much football? Countless games are lost by the stronger team. It's why football is great.

Exactly that. The reason that football is so exciting is because it is completely unfair. Today was the perfect example of that.

Its just not fair. We didn't have a single shot on target but deserved to win....

At the end of the day, the performances in the last 2 games give grounds for optimism and we are certainly better placed than we were a couple of games ago so we are making progress.

Have to hand it to you Willo, I never thought I'd be more pessimistic than you this season, right I'm going to pull my socks up, dust off my optimists hat and we'll start again next week.

The fact is Wilf had the easiest chance to score in th3 match today and missed. He was taken off because he had a yellow and we cannot afford to lose him for any more games. He had been stopped all game by their defence and so no point in risking keeping him on.
We were in control virtually all game but they scored a fortunate goal and we did not . No point in getting downhearted about this performance we were just unlucky to lose it. When we we return to the De Boar crap then we should start getting worried. As we are we still have a chance.

Same here. I've given up any real hope and found myself trying to enjoy last week but being honest I didn't really. It just felt like 3 points we should've had 2 months ago on the long road to 40 we won't make. All down to a bit of:

Feeling it won't last;

So much more to be done;

So long since any joy that small doses of excitement do very little.

If you've played football without a striker you know how much of a losing and often demoralising battle it is, despite how up for it you might get as a player. What the players must think after they've gone would be interesting, although they haven't covered themselves in glory with a striker either.

I was there today and we looked pretty good, composed and in control most of the game. We should have done better in a few attacking situations but were solid in defence. That is until the last 10 minutes or so when they made a couple of subs and we didn’t... they started to look stronger and we were a bit slow with our subs - I would have brought on Fosu-mensah and Loftus-Cheek - as last week. Zaha should have been left on (unless injured) as he always worries the defenders and keeps them pinned back.
In the end we were a bit unlucky and that’s football - Newcastle are a good side but most of the match we were the better team - you just have to take something when you’re in the ascendancy or you can come a cropper. Play like that every week and we’ll pick up points - not going to worry about relegation - it could happen but there’s enough time and matches for the averages to even out in our favour.

I long to accomplish a great and noble task, but it is my chief duty to accomplish small tasks as if they were great and noble.

Yes I did. And you don't deserve to win a game if you don't get a single shot on target. Doesn't matter hiw well you play, and how many near misses you have, to not get a single shot on target in 94 mins is shocking.

Having just seen the goal for the first time, I’m fairly sure Hennessey would have saved it? Not having a dig at Speroni but most of us including me wanted us to keep the same 11 this week after the Chelsea result. So, who plays in goal next week - perhaps Hennessey gets his chance midweek to prove he should be number 1 verses Westham?

Don't start getting all sensible.
