If a candidate is not prepared to wait then he obviously doesn't want the job and will jump ship when something better comes along.

If we do not strengthen the squad then, instead of flirting with relegation, we may well see ourselves go through the trapdoor this time. No manager worth his salt is going to come to us, one of the less attractive clubs in the PL, without at least a workable transfer budget. We've no room for manoeuvre currently to deal with injuries and the released players have worsened that. To ask a new manager to do what Sam did, with less to work with, is asking the impossible.

Marco Silva nearly achieved this. Nearly, I know. But whoever comes in will have more time. Personally I agree with the need to strengthen, but I also hope that SP will ensure that the Manager who joins us will be purchasing players we need and who fit, rather than Champaign signings that make everybody feel good.

If we have relevant targets who are targeted on fit and merit to the team, but we only get say one or two out of four or five targets, then fine, we can chase the other later. Less is more so to speak.
