This sounds a bit far fetched to me. The fact it includes so many publicly known individuals makes it sounds like someone dreamt it up. Not as though I know what happened either. I'm not convinced we'll ever know for sure.

Yeah, but then if your the kind of parent who'd go to dinner and leave their kids in the room, alone, and 'check on them every 20 minutes or so', you're probably more concerned about yourself than your kids. If the police turn attention to you, then their focus will shift from looking for a missing kid, to trying you, Portuguese police don't seem to be very proficient - the usual UK policy is to divide the investigation into two separate approaches (one for the family and one for the search). If they did it, the real question is how did they dispose of the body, in a short time scale, so effectively as not to be found - I can't imagine they had much time between going to dinner and reporting her missing. I think if they did it, she was dead and disposed of before they went out to dinner, possibly the night before. The cover of being 'poor parents' is quite a good one (because you get blamed but your not seen as guilty - just being negligent).

I might be wrong but I thought I have read somewhere that leaving kids alone is not seen as a crime in Portugal, therefore the Police could not act. With regard to previous post, Maddie was at the kids club during the day she disappeared, but there was a window of probably 3-4 hours before the dinner.

I'm not convinced we'll ever know for sure. To me that is utter 5hlte and the photofits of the 2 American brothers. It's hardly a surprise they were in the area and seen by others. It's going to be a really bizarre set of circumstances if this ever gets resolved. My money would still be on G Who medicates their kids, leaving them in an unlocked apartment, before going out on the razz, night after night ? Even doctors can be psychopaths. In fact it can be a positive trait in some quarters of the medical profession. Crippen ? Shipman ? Allitt ? Edited by Forest Hillbilly (23 Mar 2019 4.17am)

Scent of a dead body found on K's clothing, in their bedroom and behind the sofa. WTF

Imagine. Two career professionals with 3 kids, trying to get some time together whilst on holiday. They are probably on a good income, but decide that Kids Clubs during the day might impact the spending money to the extent that a child-minder for the evening(s) would blow the budget. THINK ! They contact a PR guru and secure their services, they invite friends to search for the child and contaminate incriminating evidence,...then they call the police. The PR guru sets to work blaming police for poor detective skills, treating his clients as suspects by questioning them, and not following-up leads of a "dirty gypsy foreigner-type" seen in the area. A charidee is set up to assist the foreign inept police, who's monies are spunked investigating possible child sightings in Tobago, St Lucia, Madagascar, Asia and Australia and on maintaining a high media profile. Interviews for TV and newspapers also generates income for the charidee, because you never know when the truth will surface, and everything will be taken from you. And somehow , the catalysts for an awful outcome have now become the victims. Job done. just one of an infinite number of theories

The Maddie story is all over the papers today with police zeroing in on a new suspect. To the rest of us of that's code for "we've run out of money can we have some more please". This week there was also a ridiculous story that she was kidnapped by a child trafficking ring with the assistance of the local police. Of course there was no evidence for this claim beyond the usual johnny foreigner police can't be trusted. And as for the source it was someone in the USA who was talking in general terms about child trafficking around the world. I'm sorry for the family but it's time to close this down. Every 6 months we get these stories which coincides with the decision by the Met to fund it for a further 6 months. Edited by Badger11 (05 May 2019 7.55am)

Apparently about 9mm of the 50mm May gave the police has already gone on managing the protests by Swampy and his mates. Still it's only money and it's for a good cause. I mean most of those eco protestors never use Amazon, or Occado or go on foreign holidays, heat their homes with carbon fuels etc.

I'd rather they spunked millions on tracking down what happened to this poor girl then gave a single bean to towards a toxic gang culture where idiots run about shanking eachother over f*** all. Let them get on with it I say.
