Blimey... who are you, his boyfriend?? Chill out. No the average person doesn't take less money for the love of the job because the average person lives in the real world living with the realism that life brings with regard to bills and everyday survival. As for the second part of your argument. Let's say you had hardly been at work for 12-18 months. You went to another firm who were aware of this and were willing to pay you the same money... You want more despite the fact you've done nothing to prove you're worth more.... What do you think the answer is going to be?? I've always said that top flight footballers and other sportsmen don't live in the real world. Let's face it £40,000 a week is hardly normal is it? Very easy to become detached from reality and what really matters when you earn that kind of money. From the sounds of it if you were the chairman they would be getting paid whatever they wanted! Bizarre. Homosexual references and Straw Men in the same post. Good work!! I think we agree that professional footballers should not take less money for the "love of the game". We also agree that you can't judge professional footballers by the "average" norm. I don't think I have ever said that footballers should be paid whatever they want. However, I think that each of them is a product with its own "brand". Thus, they should be paid whatever they can negotiate. Regarding the second part of my alleged argument (which is an argument that I did not make by the way), why do you say Jenkinson had "hardly been at work" for the last 12-18 months? He played a large proportion of the 2014/2015 season on loan at West Ham, and did the same until January 2016 when he was injured. He then had to fight his way back to full fitness until November 2016. Sounds like he has been working to me. However, taking your argument at face value, if I had been off work for a 18 months and someone wanted to employ me for the same money, but I wanted more - I would expect them to tell me to jog on and come back when I have a more realistic expectation - which is what we seem to have done. I wouldn't expect that they would say, "well you obviously don't love bricklaying", or whatever it is that I do for a job. I don't wish to labour the point, and I think we are basically saying similar things, but this "love of the game" stuff drives me absolutely potty.

For the umpteenth time Jenkinson was allegedly offered the same huge wages that he was earning at Arsenal so didn't have to take a drop but he wanted a rise. It will ultimately come down to whether he wants to play football with us or spend his day training and rarely getting near the pitch with Arsenal. I have a feeling that he may well have a change of heart late on 31st January Key is alleged. It seems to me that same rumour gets regurgitated on various forms of social media and before you know it, it's a fact. I have absolutely no idea whether Jenkinson is being unrealistic or not, whether the club are trying to get a steal or a bit of both. i would suggest that does for all the fans accusing him of being greedy too. The discussions may be more around appearances, relegation, England call ups, squad number etc. Jenkinson is not the first transfer that has taken an age to either seal or walk away from. Is that the players or the club?

If Jenkinson gets called up for England whilst playing at Palace I'll eat my hat.

I'm sorry. I think I began this pay cut malarkey on here. I have absolutely no evidence I was right and over interpreted Wenger comments. I think he will come still.

I think he is hedging his bets in the hope that something better will come before deadline day!
