Ah, you are all so young. Of course I hate you for it. But yes, we used to hold up our scarves and sing the song, maybe that's why it doesn't hold the same concerns for me as for many people here.

I've been going since 1968 and I've never heard it, let alone participated in it.

It's true Cucking, I remember back in the 80's the "singers" on the Holmesdale and Arthur enclosure used to sing YNWA, complete with scarves held aloft. In those days we used to sing a few other clubs' songs too, sometimes with different lyrics, sometimes not, such as West Ham's "bubbles" and the "play up Pompey" song. We also nicked "celery" off Chelsea and a version of "oh when the saints..." from Southampton.

I never understood why but it did happen.

Thank goodness, I thought I was truly having a senior moment.

I remember 'celery' and even 'bubbles' but I must have been deaf to have missed YNWA. I genuinely don't recall it. I knew other clubs used it but still....

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

I was never a Rodgers and Hammerstein fan anyway.

That must be why it never made an impression on you

Good God people aren't really going to sing ynwa are they?

A polite clap off will be fine if they have won the league.

He used to tease players by showing them the ball and then taking it past them with a quick, "You can't touch this."

It's a long trail but, in a nutshell, nobody fancies that idea. But I would be prepared to if they sing Glad All Over first.

We may have got to the point where most people are at least neutral about the Scousers enjoying their day but the strong consensus is we focus on our own enjoyment primarily. I reckon people would clap them if they do get the league.

On the subject of a potential pitch invasion by Liverpool fans, this is what Steve Browett on the BBS thread said:

Questioner: Is the club going to take extra precautions to stop Liverpool fans getting ontot the pitch in the event that they win the league at Selhurst?

I'm sure that this is pretty much an unbearable thought for most Palace fans.

SB: Yes we will. [Link]

I imagine this will mean a hefty line of stewards in front of the away section at the end of the game.
