Why are we prepared to spend millions on bringing in players but then try to cap wages?

1 year deals on high wages for a couple of players wouldn't put us back in administration.

No one on here or at the club knows better than TP on how to survive the premier league. Surely if CPFC2010 want to compete and battle in order to stay up they should be listening to Pulis and getting in the players he requires.

Do you think CPFC2010 don't know this. Give them some credit!! As Pulis and CPFC2010 have indicated it is not easy to get deals done. I don't think a lot of our targets are keen to come on 1 year deal and reduced wages if we go down. Players like Crouch have no sell-on value and it would be suicidal to give them a 3 year contract on £50K a week. So a couple of such signing would kill us. Unfortunately our owners are not billionaires so only have so much money to splash around. Easy to tell others to spend. Much harder to spend when it is your own money at stake!

In bold is what you want cpfc2010 to do in order to be 'competitive'. Hope you get your signing soon though Syd. I honestly do.

You've got to stop putting your foot in it. By all means give us your opinion and even better, defend it. But if you're going to tell me what I want, in bold no less, then don't expect to be taken seriously. You have no idea what I want CPFC2010 to do. Only what I think of their actions (or lack of them) so far. At least my posts tell you what I think...not what you think. That is quite plainly a fact.

Just read on News now, that Pulis is now a target for Swansea, As Laudrup has fallen out with the chairman, to be honest if we don't sign the players he was lead to beleive we would, I would not blame him if he went there, he is a welsh boy anyway

I agree that Jordan lacks business acumen. But the main difference between him and Parish is that Parish doesn't, and I think that's evident.

Reading HOL lately is like logging on to a Conspiracy Theories website.

No one's got any actual facts or quotes and because the board are keeping quiet means they must be hiding something.

Rewind 5 months and nearly everyone on here said they hoped Palace had a good go, didn't get thrashed too often and didn't overspend.

We got over the hurdle of overhauling Derby's record lowest points, put in some spirited displays and hired one of the most experienced Premier League managers in the business.

Now, after signing 16 players in the last window the board are showing a lack of ambition by not signing a load more?

The comments are incredible "Only Palace could f*** up like this" etc. I know we're blinkered but blimey - have a chat with Luton fans, Wolves fans, Blackburn fans, Leeds fans, Bolton fans - there's loads of examples of clubs falling from grace.

After the gut-wrenching feeling of nearly going out of business I never want to see my club gambled away to satisfy the demands of impatient supporters.

The board took us from Administration to the Premier League - but it's all luck and not judgement. If only we could have the Coventry board or the Leeds board.

It's frustrating because we seem closer than ever before to staying up but can we do away with the 'Poor old Palace' threads based on nothing but guesswork and rumour?

Well said Pikes.

Make the next a bit funnier though. You doing serious posts makes me feel quite queer.

This sounds like a wind up... unless you can provide a source or link of this news.

Really can't see Swansea going for Pulis ...they have had invested heavily in the passing style with managers such as Soussa, Martinez, Rogers and Laudrup. Can't really see them doing a complete U turn and adopting Pulis style of football.

Not saying get anyone on a 3 year deal, Im saying only offer a 1 year deal on high wages. Even let them go if we go down. Its a no brainer for the player, still gets a inflated wage but if we can down the are free to go and will still get 6 months wages from us.

Superb post Pikester.

For what it's worth, if Pulis wants to walk then f*** off and good riddance. The King is dead, long live the King...........

Can you explain Pulis style of football? We haven't seen any hoof ball since he joined us, in fact Holloway played long ball far more!

Tom, to some extent I agree with you here. Parish's achievements with TAG are far more substantial, and provide far more evidence of acumen, than anything from Jordan's career. But that makes the pig's ear he's making of running Palace all the harder to understand. For someone seemingly quite sharp, his obvious failure to run Palace effectively suggests that either his ego has got in the way of his business sense or he actually had no acumen to begin with. As I do not believe the latter to be true, I honestly think he is now so enamoured with himself that he can't get out of the way and let the football professionals around him do their jobs. I'm not sure what else you can conclude.

Eagles boss in Swansea's sights: Crystal Palace manager Tony Pulis could be approached to take over at Swansea... [Link]

Crystal Palace boss Tony Pulis will be a leading contender to replace Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup if the Dane leaves the Liberty Stadium, Sports Direct News understands.
Laudrup has reportedly fallen out with chairman Huw Jenkins and could depart the League Cup holders before the end of a turbulent campaign which has seen them go eight Premier League games without a victory.
Pulis has only been at the Palace helm for two months but is said to be on a collision course with co-chairman Steve Parish over their activity in the January transfer window.
A difference of opinion over the approach the Eagles should adopt to incoming and outgoing deals is believed to have taken place, throwing the Welshman’s future at Selhurst Park into doubt.
With Swansea finding themselves rapidly slipping into a relegation battle in one of the tightest league tables in recent years, luring Pulis back to Wales is an avenue Jenkins could be willing to explore.
His track record of never being relegated from the top flight appeals to those in the bottom half of the table.

I despair. Admin to PL in 3 seasons with no debts and our owners are making a pigs ear of things.
