Hmmm but given the choice? Would you listen to 60’s, 70’s, 80s when music was decent and mostly written by the bands themselves or the modern crap where songs are written for performing seals or to a music college formula. I know what I’d rather listen to and can’t really understand what current music is supposed to be. There certainly doesn’t seem to be the same innovation there used to be where distinct styles were created decade by decade.

If BBC radio 2 do not wish to cater for 40-70 year olds now I have no idea who they should be appealing to because there are plenty of other stations covering ‘present day’ music.

Totally agree with all this,

Shame i wont be alive, but, id love to see/hear what 30yo's now say about the music when they get to 50+. I can remember my g/parents saying the same thing when i was a teenager.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

More fall out from Ken Bruce being replaced at Radio 2. I have some sympathy with the beeb as most radio stations replace their lineups without quite he same fuss.

What is telling is the number of complaints (100) the Mail is bigging it up but actually if I was the BBC it would make my point.

If only 100 people complained then I guess it confirms that they were right to let him go its hardly a backlash.

I'm not so sure. I have refused to watch Football Focus since that awful Alex Scott took over but I haven't complained to the BBC about it

BBC have lost millions of TV watchers who have moved over to the streaming services and those radio listeners that are unhappy with the BBC offerings will do the same as Alexa and Spotify will come up with hundreds of suitable radio stations for them

I think this is a fair point I have no idea what the BBC is aiming for but your point about other stations is also valid.

Today you can be very specific with music so the one size fits all doesn't have to apply. You like seventies music there are stations for that your like seventies soul music there is even a station for that.

Personally I listen to stations based on my mood and they are quite specific.

So I think the Radio 2 model is not a good one for the future.

The BBC spends £1.2 million a year on 15 staff engaged in equality, diversity and inclusivity (EDI) 'work' (and that doesn't even include Gary Lineker).

Does that include a HR department?

No, just what is wasted on the diversity nonsense.

I got a letter from my employers that was addressed to (unknown) then my name. Not Mr. Why? Because I hadn't specified on the preferred pronoun website they put up how I wish to be addressed.

Apparently wanting to be known as a Bookcase was not one of the accepted Pronouns!!!!

Kin madness.

I was gobsmacked today.

They had an 82 yo lady on who survived the holocaust. She was 5 and witnessed her mother being machine gunned by the nazi's at a camp.

Listening to her storey was heart-rending. She had just described seeing her mother shot and the blood in the snow, she ran and hid. Saying in that moment she grew up.

What did the bbc do. They cut her short and said time for the weather!!!!! The scum couldn't even delay the bloody weather for 5 minutes for a lady who was describing traumatic events from her childhood.

Utter scum.

I was rather cross to see that the BBC have decided to amalgamate two of their news departments to save money and have made Joanna Gosling redundant in the process.

Was she picked for redundancy because she was white and heterosexual as it can't have been for her ability as she was one of the better news readers cum journalists
