Of course 'after' that, should we dare loon that far, if over the next couple of years things are going well, then support for what had happened would increase and it'd be smooth sailing. If on the other hand the economy tanks or something along those lines, public opinion may well align with a 'rejoin' or not General Election. Don't think you can escape the groundhog day Brexit process that easily. We'll be affected but 100% it'll start somewhere other than the UK.

It could feasibly lead to a loose arrangement that makes more sense to all involved. There are so many unknowns, I've given up second guessing!

Apologies for coming over all DANGERCLOSE but this main lad choked me up a bit. All those saying ‘we survived the world wars’ but would run a mile from signing up should be made to watch this. [Tweet Link]

[Tweet Link] He's a top man as were the others and is more than entitled to his opinion. However I did not vote Brexit because of the war and don't know anyone who did.

Why can't people distinguish between the EU and Europe? I was in Switzerland last month and it's not a member of the EU. I'm pretty sure that I was still in a European country, in Europe! As I was wandering around Zurich's old town, I was struck by the number of racists and xenophobes everywhere! Edited by Penge Eagle (06 Jun 2019 12.18pm)

Interesting statement when 48% of people voted to stay in, which is probably a higher percentage now. One thing that Brexit is not and never will be, on either side, is best for everyone. Where we are now, leaving ASAP is the best outcome. It would perhaps be reasonable to have another vote in 20 years when we see the impact of leaving, although I would imagine that any government would be reluctant to have another referendum ever. Personally. I did not vote for economic reasons, so I am happy to remain out forever, no matter what.

If being outside of the EU results in a decade long harsh economic downturn, destruction of the car industry and massive job losses, foreclosures and the like. Disclaimer: I am not saying it WILL, I am just asking a question. If all of those things come to pass, you still believe it would have been worth it?

There will be no EU to re-join in 20 years and if there is they are likely to re-join us rather than the other way around. Those are good reasons enough to leave. Edited by W12 (06 Jun 2019 3.06pm)

This reminds me of the kind of thing some religious people say......'but what if after you die you find out it was all true'.....would the atheism have been worth it?
