What a great derivative of the several versions of that oft quoted/misquoted statement. Other versions include - ‘Repeat a lie often enough and it becomes the truth’.

Even better - it’s also demonstrative of the concept as well… that line is often attributed to Goebbels, not Hitler, and even then there’s no evidence that he ever said it. Probably explains why it’s never used consistently.

Hitler does however cover it in relation to the Jewish people in Mein Kampf rather than it being some sort of sagely sound bite.

Fantastic example within an example of misinformation.

What, you don't think Hitler and Goebbels were prone to lying?

My main point was that Wisbech said it was ok for politicians to lie - the end justifies the means sort of line. I was merely pointing out the sort of company he is keeping in taking that view.

All politicians who lie should receive criticism. The power they are given means lies have dramatic impacts.

The media shouldn't be bought by either side.

Obviously this is all very naive and unrealistic.

But we....as the people subject to the power these arseholes are given have the right to ask that our money isn't stolen by liars and walking talking incompetent disasters.

The damning truth is that lies are everywhere and that what is true is often deliberately hidden within a sea of mass false claims. Huge amounts of money are used for this.

It really comes down to finding honest people and backing them. Let's just say that certain posters aren't among them.

There's no evidence that he ever said it.

It’s not often you see a point made that both explains and demonstrates at the same time.

Extremely enjoyable.

Did you know? 98.0000001% of people are morons.

Here is the Wiki on it....Wiki being far from on my side of the fence.

The quote has always been misrepresented.

A general reading of the saying, out of its racial context, is of course true....it's essentially about abuse of power.

But it can be applied to all regimes, Hitler's and anyone else's.

I think of it as a general truism about power.

You need evidence that Hitler and his chums told fibs?

That explains Trump's rhetoric. It was necessary.

In his mind and that of those who support him that’s true. Not though in any kind of objective analysis.

And this objective analysis allows you to tell whether you're being lied to for benign or malign reasons does it? How much subjectivity is involved in deciding Trump's lies are the wrong type?

Basically it's okay to lie if it fits a certain agenda and your name is not Donald Trump.

Even Bush and Blair got away with lying. Infact Blair even got a knighthood for his lies.

You don’t need anything more than your eyes, ears, brain and some integrity.
