I didn't notice the Italy and Turkey teams take the knee tonight and I've yet to hear anyone on the BBC mention that they didn't take the knee. Are comments about taking the knee or not taking the knee or about fans' reactions to taking the knee reserved just for the UK nations, do we think?

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

So…two teams who just played football? Interesting.
Except how will the people watching know how they’re supposed to think? Or is it possible they’re not all raging racists who need to be educated?

If British players want to take the knee then they should be able to do so witout booing.

What the italians do is up to them. Italy fought on the side of the facists, didn't have an empire like we did, the Roman Empire had slaves but it was not to do with colour and Italy does not have the same ethnicity mix as the UK.

We were a key nation in the slave trade when it was about supposeldy black inferiority and have a toatally diferent history in that respect. After the war we had a sever labour shortage and needed to draw on the empire and we have integrated fairly well ever since.

Good old Gareth Southgate. A Palace boy. A club in a multi racial area and acknowledging it. I'm much as proud of that as I am embarrassed by this ignorant red neck Palace site.

I look forward to England taking the knee to acknowledge that black lives matter which is actually acknowledging a change.

COME ON YOU ENGLAND!

You think Turkey weren't involved in the African slave trade? Shows how little you know then.

Once again, if players want their free speech to promote their politics then fans can have their free speech to show their dislike.

Polling shows that slightly less people think taking the knee is 'very important' than oppose it.

Everyone is entitled to their view.

I’m happy to be called a racist if that’s how some feel, because it’s the same old crap coming from the same idiots who think that having a different opinion makes you a racist. Utter dickheads the lot of them.

I’m all for ridding the world of overt racism however being told what you can and cannot think goes beyond the pale for me.

Why only overt?

Because if it’s covert you’re really getting into thought crime territory?

Because surely that is all that matters. If someone is a closet racist you will never know anyway.
