The Turks have their fingers crossed.

We'll buy your shish kebabs, you buy our military equipment. And we'll throw Sorloth and Ozil in as a sweetener. Deal done. No need for prolonged negotiations.

I feel that there is a job in UK trade procurements just waiting for you.

Just don't buy the testing kits from China.....I hear they are little better than 'ask the audience'.

A friend of mine, a lady pilot, rented a flat in Newcastle when she was based there.

The postcode was NE1 4BJ, which was fine until she had to confirm it verbally.

True story.

NE1 4BJ is Leazes Village(my cousin has a townhouse in 'the Mews'). It is also the Postcode for NUFC, as St James' Park is right next door.

Oh god, im sorry, ive just gone all 'willo' there.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

When this is over we will see won't we.

The Swedish approach has been working there and hasn't been destroying its economy....if they lockdown it will have been for far less time than us.
Anyway what would be the difference? All you are doing is delaying and stretching it out longer. The only real argument is your healthcare capacity.

Until a vaccine is mass produced this virus is going to spread....the summer will dampen it...hell it's getting warm already plus you'll will have all those who are 'immune' by now and then..(though true immunity is a myth).. The more catch it and come through it the less deaths you will get overall depending upon how well you isolated the elderly and vulnerable. As a percentage Sweden will already have had far more catch it from within their younger generations than us....apparently 8 out of ten won't even have had noticeable symptoms.

Staying in....until Xmas at the very earliest....well, that's the alternative if you are really going to go against 'herd immunity'....which they won't.

I don't see this strategy holding myself.

Atm they are roughly 50% behind us with deaths and cases on a pro rata population basis.
If they overtake us on that pro rata basis then herd immunity hasnt worked. I get the financial bit but pain has been and will always be around when it comes to money. Once it's over the boom will soften the bust for many. If some businesses are three weeks into no work and cant survive then they were one bad job away from it anyway. Also 1000s of businesses fail every year. Like I said I see what you are saying and it is our hearts ruling our heads but deaths would be off the scale with no plans to stop the spread.

I think every country has 'some plans' to limit the spread. I certainly don't agree with just ignoring it. It's only ever been about how drastic we went in.

If what's been said about MMT is right....and I have my fingers crossed that it is right. We will come out of this with limited pain and economic consequences.

If it isn't...boy oh boy.

I reckon I've already had this thing a couple of weeks ago. I was hopeful on the testing kits....but you hear that their reliability is a bit crap.

They have to sort that out.

It's going to be a race to see which western country can succeed on mass produced reliable kits first......it's obviously going to be between the big boys of Germany and the US.
