I think everyone should have their fingers crossed that Puel stays at Southampton. We are currently the only Premier League club that a prospective manager can join with a view to get into the richest league on earth. Makes us pretty hot property I reckon. It wouldn't bother me in the slightest if Southampton were up against us in the manager market because the one manager they wouldn't be going for is Puel and I'd take him in a heartbeat. He led Southampton to a cup final and an eighth place finish in the league. Most of the time his teams were controlled and resolute but at times they turned it on, totally outplaying Liverpool in the semi final of the cup and really having the better of it in the final against united.

Let's get to the basics... If Steve said we need a manager for the future at least 5 years why on hearth we should consider names from the past almost ending their careers like Hodgson??? By the way bookmakers and substantial part of the press seems very interest that we choose based in what they say. Why will it be???...

Hmm. Its now close of play on the 6th June and nothing doing at CPFC. Nothing at all. We don't want to rush this one, but we need to get someone in place pretty soon now. I don't really buy the idea that you don't need a manager in place to proceed with signings, and even if we aren't going to make any most managers will be into their planning for pre-season etc already.

I expect most of professional football staff are on holiday and for many of them it is well deserved. I suspect there is a lot of stress in managing a football club and a break is absolutely necessary for most.

this is why I'm turning my nose up Sean Dyche Premier League record below…….less than a point a game.

I am happy with all three suggested. Can't believe people turning their nose up at Dyche - idiots wanting fancy continental names when likely never watched any of the teams they have managed. As others have mentioned Dyche has done well with young talent and anyone that can turn Joey Barton into a functioning human being on the pitch deserves a medal. Not me necessarily blowing the Dyche trumpet for the job but can't understand the negativity against him.

It all depends on where idiots are putting their money, those idiots don't necessarily know their Arsene from their Zola. For example, yesterday one bookie was showing odds for Pellegrini of something like 20 / 1 presumably because some moron couldn't tell the difference between him and Pellegrino.[/quote]

Don't be alarmed by Hodgson being favourite - it just means he's currently being talked to - Dyche's odds drifted after an interview cos an offer wasn't made - Parrish has made it fairly clear that this week he'll interview and next week he'll decide - odds needed to be read between the lines - if there's a discrepancy between bookies odds and betting exchanges that can be telling - you can get double the odds with Betfair than the bookies on Hodgson so some people want to take your money, Dyche is shorter on Betfair even though his odds have drifted slightly which suggests he's still in the mix, Pellegrino's odds are bigger than the exchanges and there's not much difference between each bookies odds which suggests he's a serious contender, same with Schmidt though his exchange odds are drifting (4-1 out to 7-1) - I think one or both of the foreign coach's odds will contract sharply over the next few days - if Dyche's odds don't go sailing out as a result I would say it points to us getting the Ginger Mourinho, if his odds do go out then he's a dead duck and it will be between Schmidt and Pellegrino - the only solid statement I will make, and I really hope I don't get egg on my face, is that Roy won't get the job - and who is this veteran foreigner if it's not LVG?

Managing Burnley!!!!!!! Both times they have been in the league probably spent max £20m across both seasons. They have outperformed their status/budget both times.

I think most good players would want to know who the manager is going to be before signing for a new club and the club needs to know this as well, its is the managers responsibility to identify the strength and weakness and he needs to say who he wants within the budgets agreed and who he wants to ship out (quite a few in the first team squad I fear!)
