So,a Jewish person being averse to eating a bacon butty (there's a surprise) outdoes a political party depicting people as nazis. There's an irony and,if you're right, perhaps says something about what we/our media think of as "bad" publicity and the way much of our media seeks to trash Milliband's "image" (in the same way as with some past Labour leaders) compared to the likes of Cameron's and Osborne's ,on things that are nothing to do with policies or politics.

The purpose of showing nick's cartoon was to ridicule UKIP and/or give bad publicity.

All I'm saying is that UKIP supporters and others will view Miliband's failure to master a bacon sarnie more seriously.

The media keep throwing this stuff at UKIP but their popularity keeps rising.

Nick's link was valid and I think he was making a point other than merely poking fun for PR reasons.Clearly the "cartoon" related to politics/political perceptions of a UKIP branch as opposed to making fun/commenting on an individual on a non political level.

You may be right in that some UKIP supporters may think laughing at someone not enjoying eating bacon is more important than describing those you don't agree with politically as nazis.

Will be interesting to see the way the vote pans out in May...and I agree with you its interesting the way UKIP support appears to steadily increase notwithstanding things like Nick's link

Let's see on 'Polling Day'. It is interesting that in their top 4 'Target Seats' which they hope to take from the Conservatives they are behind in all of them at the present time. But I accept that polls can fluctuate.

The media are like "the little boy who cried wolf" with regard to UKIP baiting and publishing slurs.

That is why it is having no effect on diminishing UKIP support.

I think the big 3 should begin to address the concerns of UKIP supporters rather than calling them racists, swivel eyed loonies, former BNP and/or EDL supporters etc.

I intend to vote UKIP as I am worried about our infrastructure being able to cope with unbridled immigration and also dislike the waste of the EU project and it's affect on our ability to govern ourselves.

Only UKIP are talking my language.

What may be decisive generally at the end of the day (as so often) is the fact the Tories have much more money available than other parties for electioneering, the likely support as usual of much of the press and the benefits of using being in office to gain an added advantage (see link)

But is only the 'Conservatives' who can give you the chance to vote in a referendum.UKIP won't be in a position to do so and Labour have ruled one out.I too am concerned about mass immigration and would vote to exit the EU !

Not suggesting this applies to you Hoof or to all UKIP voters, but on your own analysis, many are likely to think dissing Milliband for not enjoying eating a bacon sarnie is a matter of more significance than having a number of active party members/politicians with some questionable views, which may say something significant about the level of political debate/interest, and seemingly thinking of that as an irrelevance.

Which may reflect their level of general alienation from all of the established parties and the extent to which they personally see the EU/immigration as the root of all evil in terms of the country's problems, which is something no one should ignore or underestimate (without having to necessarily agree its valid) whether they agree with it or not.

This week we've seen Miliband's family accused of being creative with death duty avoidance, Cameron appointing Lord Green as an advisor when he has HSBC tax avoidance issues and other such important stuff yet that gets minimal media coverage.

It's not all about two issues... Labour and Conservative politicians are not in touch - Sash made a good post earlier about how current politicians have no experience other than politics. Farage has worked in the private sector and does not talk in riddles to avoid answering tough questions, unlike Clegg who's sentences are like Labyrinths of common sense avoidance.
