There's not a centre back in the league who fears coming up against Benteke. For all his size and strength, he doesn't put himself about at all.

Yep, that was the one time we got in a good position and the ball was slid across looking for him..and Wrighty/yourself are correct...he 'hid' behind the defender. Sturridge would be a good shout ONLY if like Andy Carroll he comes in on a pay as you play basis...otherwise its a no for me...i'd sooner have Dwight Gayle back From the point of view of where Benteke ,should have been on that cross. As a striker it’s 6 yards out between the posts. Why he wasn’t is hard to say, except this feller likes it on his head, maybe if it had been lifted he thought he could move in on it.

Take Billy Sharp who scored for his beloved Sheff Utd against Bournemouth.Someone told me a few months back that so many of his goals are from tap-ins and that he gets between the posts at crosses.I recalled this conversation when Sharp scored just like this at Bournemouth.Benteke likes to hang about at the far post as opposed to Giroud who attacks the near post at crosses.I think that Benteke wouldn't score from a tap in a few yards from an open goal !

Unfortunately for us he seems to have lost the key due to a severe dip in confidence.

Benteke, is a striker, but maybe a bit one dimensional in his approach. He is no poacher, as Sharp, could be described, . I think Benteke, could play a part ,but we need a poacher. No body getting into that vital area in between the posts happens to often for Palace.

Dwight Gayle on loan would have been a decent shout for me, before everyone shouts he is a championship player, he is improved on what he was and for me better than what we have.

While the conversation going on around you is about the cross be hid behind the far post defender for, you’re stating you can’t remember a single cross. And you’re still unaware of it. Ok 2 crosses. Believe it or not my stream actually went down during that moment so I hadn't seen it. Just had a look on the highlights. Any way one decent cross in a match is hardly a lot to feed off. Especially for a striker with his form. If more hung up crosses are regularly delivered into the box I've no doubt he'll start to score again but as I said this would result in us changing our overall style and although could benefit Benteke it could also be detrimental to the rest of the team. When he took the ball off Luka and wouldn't give it back for THAT penalty, and a certain hands to ears celebration directed at the Palace faithful when he did finally score one of his very few goals, should have been the end of him in a Palace shirt, irrespective of the fact that he is total pony poo.

The cross from PVA was close to perfect, but not given any striker score due to defenders present. But a true professional would at least try to reach the ball - Benteke was just ball watching.

I almost can’t believe what I’m reading, although it’s typical of ‘club Benteke’ Palace fans. Now they’re all saying it was the wrong type of cross. It should’ve been lifted 7-8 feet in the air, to the far post, perfectly onto Benteke’s head and over the 3 defenders in the way. None of this perfect cross the dopey cvnt only has to read and be there to tap in for an easy goal. No, everyone’s being too cruel on Benteke. And one decent chance in a 0-0 game? Not enough either! What a joke as well. There’s loads of these types of balls during the season and the useless dopey cvnt is never reading his teammates he trains with every week or is actually never there at all. Fvcking useless, yet his fans he couldn’t give a shoit about will be defending him on his last game when he’s either doing the same or playing out of his skin because he doesn’t have a contract to cream £130k per week anymore. Ignore the experts. It’s not Benteke’s fault the ball didn’t clear everything the air but was actually perfect with fvck all for him to do if he bothered or had a brain or any intuition whatsoever. Sadly he hasn’t and we’re stuck with the cvnt for 9 months longer. Edited by Rudi Hedman (13 Aug 2019 7.59am)
