Isn't the veteran European likely to be Ranieri who may think he still has something to prove ? Posting this because another name is mentioned which I have not heard of before: Christophe Galtier

Isn't Ranieri the ultimate Pardew? Where as Pards has good and bad streaks over 10-15 game periods, Ranieiri is the extreme that wins you the league and then relegated you! That's the opposite of what we need at Palace right now. Apart from that remarkable season that will see him go down in Management Legend (and fair enough I suppose), he hasn't been that impressive. Should have won the league with Chelsea as well considering no one knew how to combat that sort of financial backing/no one else had a 'buy who you want' policy at the time.

My biggest fear about Ranieri is that ever since we came up to the top tier, man management (in my opinion) has been key to managing Palace. There's been several times where our personnel on the pitch have frankly not been good enough but the team have dug deep to win or draw. You can't overlook the manager for that and can't understate team morale in Premier League performance. Whilst I felt sorry for him when the players appeared to stitch him up, you have to have doubts about a manager that ended up having had that happen to him. A good manager in my opinion and would do well again at the highest level, but to me he's just not Palace.

Ranieri could be thought of as a veteran. I really hope it's not him.
