I pointed this out when Trump was impeached. It's like Keir Starmer being the judge and jury over Boris. Impeachment was written into the constitution to prevent high crimes such as treason, the early Americans were scared that the British would put a puppet in the job.

Apart from Nixon both the Clinton and Trump attempted impeachments were long on political revenge and short on actual high crimes.

I hope that the republicans don't impeach Biden this merry go round most stop for the sake of the political process.

No it isn't. If the Democrats had a 2/3rds majority in the Senate Trump would have been found guilty on the first, thus making the second unnecessary, even though he was even more guilty the second time. It was only the GOP control that saved him. That the Dems knew it would fail doesn't mean it wasn't important as it exposed and embarrassed him.

Should the GOP win and then impeach Biden that would just be disgraceful revenge. I suspect Cruz is only saying it to wind up the Trumpkins and bind them to him. He is a nasty piece of work.

So it's justice against Trump but revenge if against Biden.

The whole impeachment process has been abused by politicians from both parties sorry that you don't see that. There is a reason for the separation of powers law makers should not sit in judgement on other politicians that way lies the abuse of power.

I have no idea if Trump broke any laws but if he did they do not rise to the level of high crimes.

No, there was plenty of evidence against Trump, especially his attempt to overturn the 2020 result. "High crimes" has no legal definition and impeachment is not a legal process anyway. I fail to see any evidence against Biden. I get many dislike him, but that's different.

Yep, the whole impeachment process has become a political tool, which is an abuse of its design.

But this is how the show is run now.

If they were all given clubs it would at least be more honest.

If the Dems had a sufficient majority then there would have been no need for a trial , just a vote.

So for you, if the Republicans do to Biden what the Dems did to Trump it's disgraceful revenge. But it's OK when the Dems do it because you don't like Trump.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

Gettr is built on Amazon servers and dependent upon on Apple and Google app stores.

Surely that's not a good idea when we remember what they did to Parler.

Exactly we agree on that, it is a political process used to try and punish someone for crimes which should be handled by the judiciary.

When the founding fathers framed the constitution political parties didn't really exist so they naively believed that Congress would be staffed by independent members who would do what was right for the country (bit like your view on MPs and Brexit). Pretty quickly of course political parties emerged at which point the impeachment process becomes a tool of the majority party.

In hindsight they should have used the supreme court to hold an impeachment trial.

It's not a criminal "trial". It's a more a "hearing", but for sure the evidence would be heard. As it was. It's just that the outcome would be as predictable as it was with the GOP dominating, which is why it is a political process.

It has nothing to do with me not "liking" Trump. It only has to do with evidence. Which exists with Trump, but doesn't appear to do with Biden. Disagreeing with with policy is very different to attempting acts of the kind Trump did.

The assertion that Trump's connection to Russian assistance in 2016 has been "exposed as a conspiratorial hoax" is what the gullible Trumpkins have been indoctrinated to believe. Those who are not, who don't believe that the 2020 election was "stolen" and all the other distortions to be found on the web, know that the only thing that is true is that it has not yet been proven in a court of law. Mueller said as much. His papers were sent to the New York jurisdiction so that Trump couldn't touch them. Whether they will be allowed to see the light of day is another question, but they exist.

It is my opinion that those are facts. We just have to wait for them to be proven as such.

Who are themselves political appointees and which Trump packed to enable his kind of views to gain traction. It would be better, because as trained legal minds they would be less likely to overlook the obvious for political reasons. With Biden threatening to increase the numbers to get the balance moved the long term future of a politically influenced Supreme Court looks extremely unfortunate to me.

This is one of the reasons I believe the US system has evolved to the point where it is now unfit for purpose and incapable of reforming itself without a great deal of pain. Others see a split coming, which is what I believe was behind the Russian support for Trump. I don't. I see a declining superpower going through decades of pain before they make the necessary changes to enable them to stabilise and re-establish themselves to some degree. Which would leave a huge vacuum that only China could fill. I hope I am wrong.

"Any day day now, any day" probably about the same time as the Trump supporters uncover the evidence of the rigged election.

If a democratic white house and a democratic congress can't find the evidence against Trump to proceed I doubt it exists.

According to the Daily Mail Trump is polling considerably higher than Biden.

I don't want these ancient politicians battling it out in 2024 myself but it shows the political landscape at this time.
