As sad as it would be, I'm coming round to the idea of Wilf leaving. Would love to reinvest the money (let's say £60-70m) in some young British talent: Lookman (£20m according to the papers) Winger Total: £80-85m, yes it's more than the Zaha sale mentioned above but presumably we'd have a small budget besides the Zaha sale money. Also, losing Zaha's enormous wages (£135k per week) would free up some money. This would also give us a bit more depth on the wings and may push Andros further if we have three quality wingers competing for two places. I think we need to spend circa £100m this season to push on. Clearly the majority of that would come from Wilf at £80m so I think an extra £20m funded by selling players would need to be found. I'd agree with going for youngsters as it'll keep wages down but only agree with Lookman and Bats, not the other two. I'd go with: Lookman (winger) £20m Its important we get get talent coming through before we sell from now on (hence the reece james suggestion), that way we wont get striped for players when clubs know how much money we have.

They would probably sell RLC for a quid as he is out for a year with his latest injury. Good player but the poor sod was cursed with the body parts from hell.

Recent appetite in the transfer market has shown me that our owners do not want to risk breaking the bank to reinforce the sqaud. So we may break up the squad to manoeuvre players in. I cannot honestly see anyone paying £80m for Wilf, with the sell on deal to Moan U I think we will do well to see 45-50m net.

You are most probably right about Wilf, but value wise I am not so sure and it really depends on what someone is prepared to pay. If you look at what was paid for Man City’s Mahrez or the striker that Watford sold to Everton, Richarlidson, I would say Wilf is head and shoulders better than those two. Personally, I would be disappointed with anything less than 80 million...

This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle This post has been merged from a topic called 'Zaha wants out' by Midlands Eagle We have to sell to buy and reduce the wage bill ratio from 78% of turnover. Cpfc made 10 million, before player purchases in 17/18 resulting in a £35 mill loss .. and look what we got Sorloth, Jach Reiderwald etc so 30 mill never to be seen again plus wages. Unfortunately we need to sell before we buy .. otherwise we will go the way of Bolton /Sunderland etc. It’s going to be a tricky closed season.

I despair. Three average players do not replace one quality player.

Zaha is sold for 80m and we go and spunk 30m on this player, 20m on another, all whilst keeping to our budget of 100m ffs To be fair I got Kane, Son and Salah in my fantasy football team for 100m and stil managed to get Maguire and Alison so it can be done.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle This post has been merged from a topic called 'Zaha wants out' by Midlands Eagle It's going to take two summer transfer windows to revamp our squad, i feel we need a manager that will be there for it all and after - like a vision. I don't want roy to have one vision, invest the zaha money this summer, only for next summer the awb money spent changing that.. let's be honest, awb will be gone next summer, barring anything drastic. Unless Roy's successor is similar.
This was once a quality forum.... |
