Not a fan of Benteke at all but will say he had a decent game Saturday. But Ian Wright made a valued comment on motd, when he said he said he doesn’t put himself in scoring positions when the crosses come in , basically he doesn’t read situations quick enough to get the

The ball from PVA that has been mentioned was a strikers dream just dart forward and its a tap in. The ball bypassed 4 defenders and he was standing behind the fourth who cleared. I know he's injury prone but somebody like Sturridge who is a free agent would have buried that

He is quite happy having the ball outside the box because he is not expected to score from there. Meyer was looking for a pass on a couple of occasions and Benteke was just standing there. He should have been screaming for the ball.

Sturridge would be a good shout ONLY if like Andy Carroll he comes in on a pay as you play basis...otherwise its a no for me...i'd sooner have Dwight Gayle back

While Benteke’s form has fallen off a cliff, it’s also important to remember that when we first had him we had two wingers playing with their strong foot whipping crosses in consistently. We haven’t played at all like that under Roy and Tekkers doesn’t suit the way we play at all. If we still had an Allardyce type in charge then Benteke would be looking less useless. Either way you’d expect a 30 million quid striker to have more to his game than being purely a target man.

The problem is that he's not even a target man - he hardly bothers to compete for aerial balls and can't be relied on to hold it up.

He wins a lot of headers but no one is their to support him. People have missed he was involved in two great chances we had against Everton.

Ha. You've lost me. While the conversation going on around you is about the cross be hid behind the far post defender for, you’re stating you can’t remember a single cross. And you’re still unaware of it.

Zaha doesn’t get closer than 20 yards to the side of him on a flicknon so you’re right there. That part when he was running like a wardrobe and slotted Ayew in I think won’t happen very often running with the ball at that pace and the hiding behind the far post defender of 3-4 of them when the ball comes across the goalmouth is so embarrassing yet I’m not surprised in the slightest. As for his hold up play? What hold up play? Glenn Murray he isn’t. He’s not even Alan Lee standard. He’s so sh1t I can’t wait for him to go so it’s all over.

This is the worry, we just are not going to put the ball in the net anywhere near enough (again). Benteke is finished in front of goal. Hes just an faint memory of the player who scored that lovely touch and dink at Stamford bridge. We are relying on Ayew, who doesnt score and Wilf who is NOT a striker. Not sure he can be relied about to get 10 again let alone 10-15. I'm very concerned about how this is going to pan out this season. A few more scoreless games at home and the atmosphere is going to turn for the worse again at selhurst. I think we are going to be ok at the back and midfield but we are going to have little to show for it as we have no real number 9 with that ruthless streak. If Wilf isn’t a striker, what is he doing on the pitch then, he certainly doesn’t cross the ball. We are expecting someone to pay £80m for him.
