Chucking a milkshake is a world away from throwing a punch. It’s ridicule and embarrassment rather than any actual pain.

Depends on the context and what she said, but yes, in the right circumstances Anna Soubry covered in milkshake could be amusing.

Justified? Probably not. Funny? Probably.

It is less than a punch I agree, however it is still assault as it is an attack on a person. It's funny until it happens to you or someone you like.

Once you accept physical violence you encourage it.

This leads to escalation. You can't then say you weren't in part responsible and have clean hands.

If people say violence is ok, then cool, we know where we are. It's open to both sides then.

However, as we have already seen, there are different rules operating here because we have a corrupt state.

DanH what is your thought at throwing bacon at muslims, A bit of harmless fun, ridicule and embarrassment?

You know full well the left would be in arms,
But what's the difference?

Fair game is it?

Agreed its the escalation I am concerned about.

The police would show twice a day for 5 mins and a cup of tea and a biscuit. If this loutish behaviour is left unchecked we will end up with police at most polling stations and security at polling stations will become an issue. Better to nip it in the bud and make an example of the "perp".

I don't care if this man was a Brexit or Remain supporter it needs to stop.

Firstly, impressive bit of whataboutery to bring Muslims into it. Really top drawer stuff.

Secondly, of course it's different. It would be deliberately inflammatory on religious grounds for no reason. Same as you wouldn't remove a Sikh's turban or a Kippah from a Jew.

I think things really escalated with Jo Cox but that wasn't political apparently.

That's an absurd statement.

Why? All this fuss about milkshakes when an actual MP actually died.

So you think a Sikh or muslim has a higher place in society that they are immune to "ridicule and embarrassment"
You right there have divided society. That elderly gentlman has a right as much as anyone to go about his buisness without fear or threat.
You have basically said because he isn't religious he is fair game. Your such a biggot.

I literally said earlier in the thread that what happened to him is very much not OK and whoever did it is a tw*t.

And if you're going to call me a bigot at least put 3 g's in it.

The milkshake issue is about support from people like you accepting the act.

The murder of Jo Cox was a lone action that carried no support from any group I'm aware of.

I was against Jo Cox's politics but I wouldn't have supported her getting milkshaked let alone the horror which ended her life.

That's the absurdity.

I wouldn't say I support it as such - just find it slightly amusing. As is the fact the phrase 'getting milkshaked' has now entered 2019 political discourse ha.

I think what I'm trying to say is that I'm not sure I buy into the escalation narrative and think a big deal is being made out of childish pranks when a lot, lot worse has already happen and people like old NF have used language around 'picking up a rifle' if Brexit isn't delivered. He may have been acting alone - but it was a politically motivated murder and he had been influenced by the political environment around him.
