that's the catch, knowing our scouts, we'll end up with some unknown league 2-level talent from the Scandinavian leagues. We will not be able to replace Zaha, we will have to build on enabling forward play to not focus on one player, it should if done properly make us better at home.

The players I mentioned above (Lookman and Bowen) in that position would nonetheless be good signings who can grow with us and become cracking players in their own right. But I agree, Zaha is one of a kind.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle This post has been merged from a topic called 'Zaha wants out' by Midlands Eagle I'm starting to think the best thing we could do as a club is sell AWB to Utd early this window. Sell him for say £50m plus performanced based add ons and also that they cancel the sell on fee for Zaha. This in turn allows us to invest in a couple of players that could be of the quality to convince Zaha to stay but if we do get a big offer for Zaha then at least we have all the money. If we did sell AWB and Wilf combined for say £120m then I would love to see us buy 3 or 4 first team players and then 3 or 4 prospects that can be blooded over the course of the season. We are in a position now where the majority of our first team are over 25 which should allow us the ability to throw in one or two youngsters as they are surrounded by older heads. You could then get a forward wide man, full back and then 3 or 4 good youngsters. Would love to see bids for youngsters like Morgan Rogers, Rekeem Harper, Marcus Tavernier, Jack Clarke, Dozzell, Matt O'Reilly. The rest of the money can then go towards the stadium.

Absolutely correct and the person who seems to regard himself as an expert on journalism who refuted it isn’t - despite his apparent self regard and rudeness to people who actually know the trade. Thanks Jamesey, totally agree with your post.

Welcome back Seth. Where have you been hiding for all these months? Thanks ME. I've been off the site mainly because I got bored with the trolling and abuse from certain posters which unfortunately made this an unpleasant place to be (see Jamesey's points above). I come back every now and then for a look and now only post occasionally. This debate has been well conducted though, and has brought out some mature and interesting points of discussion. Nice to see.

Progress will be how much we improve and grow the club, rather than clinging on in the Prem with £30 million players we can’t afford and hamstringing our future transfer activity, signing freebies and loans that are available but don’t fit our team in the slightest and relying on managerial genius or again, high spending that starts that next cycle of future hamstringing of transfer activity. This sale and the AWB sale and the investment in the squad are critical to the progress and gauging the progress of the club, because until then we’ve been spending far more than we’re positioned in the league for revenue. 9th highest spenders spending most of the season in 17th. Get the sales right, balance the books and maintain the squad and it’s been great progress. Get it wrong and we’ll be a has been that spent loads to stay in the league with little to show for it. I agree with you on Dominic Fifield though. Don't disagree with much you say Rudi, except without PL status we'd struggle to progress much at all considering we were losing £5m+ a season in the Championship.
