I'm generally very optimistic but after several uninspiring windows I was doubtful we'd see anyone exciting come through the door. As it stands I would actually be happy even if that's our business done (providing Wilf stays). If dazza is right and Benrahma comes in then surely on paper this has to be our best window since we returned to the Prem.

The amazing thing is that ignoring the wages/signing-on fees AWB's fee could all but cover the combined cost of Ferguson, Eze and Benrahma and possibly even the rumoured young centre-back; you can see why Parish is so keen to invest in youth!

Another big signing coming in hopefully next week giving another Attacking Option I’m led to believe it is Benrahma.

Once that deal is completed we will move to a CB.

What a window & potentially exciting season.

Thanks dazza.

We definitely need a top class young defender, so that would be great news but I wonder...why can’t we multi task and focus on more than one transfer at a time?!

We’ve done some good work this window - for sure.
I think we could do with shipping out Connor (sadly) as he occupies a position in the squad on paper but is rarely fit enough to play. A young replacement with potential ideally (Maja would be my preference).
Benrahma is very interesting (bit of a risk for a lot of money) but if it comes to fruition will make our previous decisions to keep transfer activities to a minimum over recent windows look astute. We have been able to pick out some quality players for better prices than we’d have paid 6/12 months ago.

The activity this window almost makes up for the disappointment of the last ones!

£60,000 per week for 4 years, I wouldn't be too sad about it.

He joined us 267 weeks ago. At £60,000 per week that's £16,020,000 we've paid him to play 50 times, or £320,000 per game. He's been injured for slightly over 100 weeks of that time.

The thing is it's not his fault or the club's fault that he's become injury prone but giving him a new contract was insanity, especially when we then loaned him out at a point when we had bugger all options up front!

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

I trust the CB will be young and brought in to replace an outgoing and/or team up with woods for future seasons.

I am aware we are short now but how often do you start a season with 3 first team CBs all crock?

The CB should be first team quality and young however Woods will only partner up with somebody at league 1 level I dont believe he will ever be prem standard.

Pure insanity. The club should have cut their losses and made him a free agent. He was never an above average player but after that injury he was finished at the top level.

From what we’ve seen of him I’d say you’re right.

Finished Pardew that, selling Murray for £4 million and bringing in Wickham for £9 million.

Hindsight and all that, but I don't think any Palace fans agreed with that, at the time.

I think you will find that when he signed contract extension his salary was reduced by nearly 50%

Are the rumours that Bentenke's salary was cut to 70k pw on renewal also true?
