I stupidly watched some of the BBC Breakfast news this morning - silly me!
They were running a piece on the forthcoming rail strike action and cut to Manchester to ask commuters what their views were.
Interviewee 1 - late 20's male who wholeheartedly agreed with the strike and said that they should get what they wanted and the whole mess is down to the Tory Government and no one else.
Interviewee 2 - a middle aged man not happy about the strikes but wholeheartedly agreed that the government should sort it out and pay them whatever they wanted to get strikes cancelled.
Interviewee 3 - middle aged lady who wasn't happy about the strikes but was very sympathetic in favour of the strikers.
So, there you have it - in a small poll carried out by the BBC, 100% of the people were in favour of the rail strikers getting paid whatever it is that they want and that the Government is to blame.
What a bunch of t***s.
DEFUND THE BBC!

They were unlikely to stop a Mercedes outside the Ritz and ask them what they thought of the uppity oiks going on strike. Working class people are likely to understand what it's like to have no pay rise for three years. The propaganda war is being won easily by Lynch - which is no surprise against this government. They'd somehow f*** up making a cup of tea, have to sack someone and start an enquiry. The joke is that anyone's still fooled.

what astonishes me is we have had decades of Tory Governments AT THE SAME TIME as a looney-left Globohomo BBC.

The Tories talking tough-talk on crime & immigration....while doing nothing. The BBC at total variance with the voting public. For example the Brexit vote.

Tories & the BBC.

it's like the two ruling elites, deliberately playing good-cop...bad cop.

I thought that they might at least get a view from someone with a different point of view.
As it happens - two of those interviewed were probably not "working class"!

The strikes have personally caused me major trouble three times. Yet, I just don't blame the workers anymore. For one thing their wages are ok, but not exactly making people comfortable these days. Barely anyone's wages do.
The other thing would be how tax is used. It's galling to average people to pay taxes for basically nothing that they want or need, whilst shadowy shareholders get dividends and companies post profits - yet won't give workers a raise.
Not exactly just rail workers, obviously.
I think the government is trying to make Lynch a villain, ala Scargill - yet no one is interested in what they have to say anymore. Lynch is far more coherent, competent and has more integrity than the entire House of Commons combined.

I think it's a fair point that the BBC are not balanced. I've always thought their agenda along the lines of 70s/80s academics. Everything on the left, good (including Stalin): everything on the right - fascist, Thatcherite, now 'far right' in their parlance.

It is a fine line - I 100% agree with people making money and with Companies doing well - the Capitalist world.
Often that means that the dividends they pay are more important to them than the service that they provide - I don't like that but it is where we are sadly.
As regards rail - the majority of the workers are doing fine in my opinion and I suspect they would get what they want if they gave up their "Spanish Practises", but they won't and therein lies the main issue.
You cannot run a modern system where the workers are using archaic means and ways to carry out that work.
Stop that crap and give them 10% - I would vote for that!
Sorry - we are off topic from the BBC - apologies.

The irony being these people weren’t told it’s their fares which will rise and it’s not hmgs job to give pay rises. The rail companies are private.

Is it possible that they interviewed a larger number of people and chose to only show those that showed support of the strike?

Of course not.

Next you'll be telling us that they have loads of photos of single migrant boat men but only display those with a baby.

The actual deal is that government need to sign off on the pay rises. They also indemnify the rail companies against the strikes. They also pay the upkeep of the infrastructure. The usual con for the taxpayer.
Bearing that in mind, the government have already paid out more to the rail companies (taxpayer's money), than they would have done by making a reasonable pay offer in the first place.
BBC should be making that point if they care about the viewers. Obviously a balancing act with the licence fee.

Very much so, in which case it is even worse bias!
