I heard about a local street where they had a party yesterday - everybody went out into their back gardens and had a dance around until the police arrived in two hurry up wagons and put a stop to it. Looking at the various media outlets this morning I think it is nailed on that people will be banned from going out for exercise probably by tomorrow. Idiots still congregating in public places have spoilled it for the rest of us. Unless you are doing essential work my guess is you will be allowed out to buy food only.

Some interesting thoughts. Not so much on how to tackle Corona but more about life after Corona.

The idea that you can control large populations via guidance is misguided.....not that I agree with the guidance anyway. You have Police vans telling people they can't sunbathe in the park but they can exercise. Expecting that level of control is almost ludicrous and out of a Monty Python sketch. 'Er excuse me, have you stopped to lie on the grass? Don't you know that you should be exercising? And next time bring a tape measure'.

You may well be right but in this case people were in their own gardens and a good distance from each other.

Down my 'Neck of the woods' there will be a lot of dogs in supermarkets. Exercise is important for one's physical and mental well-being and the Police and authorities need to use an 'Iron-fist' against those who don't adhhere to the required social-distancing and NOT punish the majority who abide by the rules. Heavy downfalls of rain will help! Edited by Willo (05 Apr 2020 1.15pm)

Wasn't that always a totally unrealistic expectation? There is also the question of a very basic liberty here.

I appreciate there are those in bedsits and small flats who simply do not have the advantage of being able to avail of some fresh air by stepping out on to a garden. Some,if not many, in this catergory head for the local parks and probably form the conclusion that providing they are adhering to the social-distancing as instructed by the Government they should not be criticised. Lord Sugar has questioned the messages from Piers Morgan asserting that there are large parks in Essex where he lives so providing people keep their distance they are not affecting other people. I understand that 3,000 people descended on Brockwell Park yesterday.I have no idea if social-distancing was in operation but the park has now been closed. The Government must be praying for the downpours we experienced for several months! Edited by Willo (05 Apr 2020 12.31pm) Distance is irrelevant if you touch an infected railing or swing or anything that someone with C19 may have infected. Then wipe your face, nose or eyes. Stupidity is a british thing. Liberty needs to be wound back or we are facing a real s*** show.

Perhaps in a very short timeframe the expectation will be for young families and children to remain cooped up in their small flats, bedsits, maisonettes with no gardens when they have some large and lush parks in their vicinity. People will quite rightly ask why the majority have had to suffer due to the minority which the authorities have deemed to be flouting the 'Instructions' and in this scenario question why firm measures were not taken against the perpertrators. I fear an almighty backlash if further 'Lockdown' measures are introduced. Edited by Willo (05 Apr 2020 1.31pm)

The same could be said if one take's daily exercise which is currently permitted or when one shops in supermarkets and other food outlets. For avoidance of doubt, I totally understand the rationale behind social-distancing and preventing the transmission of the virus but it's a question of balance. Edited by Willo (05 Apr 2020 1.34pm)

I fear an almighty backlash if further 'Lockdown' measures are introduced. They can say what they like but it isn't going to make that much difference.....the sun will have far more impact. It's not as though the Police have the cells or numbers to do anything about it anyway. It's going to be like an ineffective teacher standing in front of a misbehaving class telling them to be quiet. 'Be quiet, or I'll wag my finger and tell you to be quiet again'. The reality has always been that if you want to properly suppress something you have to repress it.....and the Police aren't set up for that....Well at the moment.
