This post has been merged from a topic called 'Stadium plans' by bexleydave The longer this goes on without any progress, or at least based on the information released I do start to question whether this new stand is the right decision anyway. Its akin to putting lipstick on a pig. I know we are severely low on options, CP park is a non started, I just wish we could do something with the athletics stadium, that seems prime location for us. Such a shame.

Ot quite the new Stand, but a modification for next season could be safe standing, similar to what Wolves are planning
There are no plans to grant any club permission to install a safe standing section. Anywhere in England

There are no plans to grant any club permission to install a safe standing section. Anywhere in England You don't need permission to do what Wolves are doing. It is safe standing by proxy and a great move. Similarly it is perfectly legal to allow your fans to stand at matches, as Palace do. Different rules at different grounds, presumably in consultation with local authorities.

They are not in top divisions so are not covered by all seater rules. As people have said there is a requirement to provide seats and a view that people do not have to use them. The later has never been questioned in court however if a fatal incident were to occur and people were standing, it is nearly certain corporate manslaughter charges would be faced by club and officials/directors

Why even bother? Half the Homesdale lower spend the whole match standing anyway. The end block in th Arthur seems to have adopted the same policy. So if you want to stand just go there. In block X we do a mixture. Stand when Wilf gets the ball on the wing, corners, free kicks etc. But we don’t stand all match. Can’t see the point of safe standing. Just go back to terracing with plenty of crush barriers if I was in charge. That way you would get more in too.

It does seem like rail seating is just a gimmick if people are going to stand in those sections anyway. You wouldn't be able to get more people in if you revert back to "old style" terraces with crash barriers. The number of entrances, toilets, bars and fire exits, and the overall size of the concourse are all designed for a specific number of people which can't increase without significant improvements.

The new Spurs stadium has it! Installing it is not the same as being able to use it. It may well be a good move if legislation changes, especially as it has been incorporated into a new stadium. On the other hand, as we can't afford the proverbial pot to micturate in, it would be flagrant extravagance to spend money on something that, as it stands, wouldn't give us an additional red cent in income.
