For those worrying about friends and relatives, try and take it easy - I'm in Old Street, and we've been told to stay in the building until further notice, but the mobile service is intermittent due to preference being given to emergency services (fair enough) so if you can't get hold of someone try not to get too nervous (particularly those abroad).

I've had loads of frantic calls and mails from people checking up - it seems that the calmest place to be at the moment is here in the city where on the whole people seem to be dealing with it in a fairly relaxed way.

Hope everyone's OK.

Was it Winston Churchill who said during the blitz something like "London looks up and cries 'We can take it'"? Different generation, different split of people, but the attitude remains!

They will never win!

Thanks npn

Home Secretary now talking.

He says there are only four confirmed explosions. One on a bus, the others on the tube.

BBC are saying seven explosions (six tube, one bus).

No buses running in Central London. Overground severely delayed with some closed. Tubes all shut. Airports ok.

Two people confirmed dead.

since when have we 'cozied up' to extremists ?

Whern they've washed the blood off the streets, start blaming people. Until then shut the f*** up.

Come and say that to my face, you little turd.

Grow up. Why is this excitable child allowed to be a mod, when he exhibits such childish behaviour at a time like this.

I do wonder whether if yesterday's decision had gone differently we might have been talking about Paris, Madrid, Moscow or New York? Or it could be because of G8.

Thought that myself as soon as I heard it. With London in particular I'm assuming that Mayor Ken is still in SIngapore. So with Blair also in Gleneagles, the two most important people for London are not around.

My dad was feeling ill this morning so didn't go to work. A mate went to Oasis last night so had today off work. Spoke to my other mate though who works 200 metres from Edgeware Road and he reckons he missed it by about 5 minutes. He's now stuck there until further notice.

The only positive we can take from this is that the terrorists have made 7 attacks and only killed 2 people. At least we know that these attacks did not go to plan 'cos they would have been planning to kill a lot more people.

Unfortunately there's still some people trapped on trains and many critical. I don't think the numbers will come close to the Madrid bombings, but I'm sure they'll be more than just two.

BBC now saying "The police have confirmed a number have died at Edgeware Road".
