i agree. I like MG and he has been a model professional for us so i wish him well. However, i think his height, or lack of, means he will always be a secondary CB playing around a less mobile big guy. The Maguire price (and maybe Fofana) can be ignored and they were both ridiculously overpriced. Does anyone think he is as good at Van Dijk at his peak? The answer is clearly no. I agree, the height and physicality is an issue. I can only imagine that was the reason that Chelsea let him go. He's a great defender, but lets be honest, he's not elite. The financial restrictions will dampen transfer values a little, so we are not going to get crazy money for him. But if we could get c.60m and replace with someone like Lacroix for c.20m that feels like a good place to be. Regardless of what happens, we are in a great place now where we have interest in our players, and feel like we can let them go without significantly weakening us.

Seems Palace have rejected a second bid of £50m, holding out for £65m . . . [Link]
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

Marc looked happy enough at the training session yesterday. I wouldn't be too displeased to see him go for £65m, that's a good deal for us, but would prefer him to stay, maybe until January, at which time Ollie will have had chance to work his magic with his new squad.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

Guehi is captain today, which is odd if he's on the point of leaving.

And Guehi has to be substituted due to a knee injury. That's either £50m+ down the tube or a firm club commitment that he is not for sale.

I am amazed that anyone thinks he is that good, i don't see any pluses to his game, lightweight, Poor in the air, not that quick, slow at reading the game, not Captain material, should have accepted the 50m

It’s all about opinions. I think he has pretty good positional sense, is quick (certainly compared to Andersen), is comfortable on the hall and plays a decent forward pass (apart from when playing for England when passing forwards is not allowed). His major weakness is his lack of physicality, particularly in the air. Whilst I would prefer to see him stay, I think he can be replaced relatively easily (unlike Olise or Eze).

He didn't get his caps without any reasons.
