If you throw Ozoh into the mix, then to me this would leave Doucoure, Lerma, Ozoh and Wharton for two spaces in the side. This of course relegates Richards back to where he should be as first swap at CH and largely makes Riedewald and Hughes redundant. As a result I reckon we could see them both move on in the summer along with Tomkins and Clyne and possibly Schlupp. Assuming no sales of core players I would see our squad looking more balanced as follows: Goalkeepers That’s a half decent 25 player squad (with a couple that could be played as youngsters so don’t need to b in the squad), but there is obviously room for improvement and the addition of quality in the forward positions particularly. Edited by Eaglecoops (30 Jan 2024 4.33pm) They are coming for our major players in the summer. I think come August I think our side looks significantly different.

6 points clear of 18th and 6 points behind Brighton who will be hurting from tonight’s big loss to Luton.

This was the season to makes our mark and maybe convince those players to stay. It hasn't happened for a variety of reasons. We could still have a good second half of the season, but without a cup run, which was inexplicably binned off, there's little to get excited about. It's not like the expensive young players will get blooded in either!

Olise and Doucouré in most games we would definitely be finishing in the top half.

Doucoure I'd expect, wont go this summer, as clubs will want to see how he recovers from that injury first. I suspect from your list above we might also hold onto Ward and Hughes. Another 2 transfers in the summer and that starts to feel like a really interesting squad

We'll probably lose at least one of Anderson or Guehi and my preference would probably be Guehi, due to his value being a lot higher and also Anderson's long passing being difficult to replace. Holding out hope that Doucoure will stay with us after such a long injury and that Eze still might sign a new deal and give us another year. Losing both Olise and Eze in one window would be a nightmare to replace. I actually think our recruitment has been pretty good in recent seasons and if we sold Olise and Guehi for £100m+ and were able to reinvest it, we might have a weaker first XI but could have a deeper squad.
We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold... |
