I agree all the comments re Ward and Mitchell. For me it did seem like someone had put superglue on the soles of a number of players boots, but the main problem is of course finishing up front. On paper, when we bought him, Edouard looked a good bet and tbf he is a good finisher (OK, only when he's had plenty of advance warning and space). Unlike soccer computer games, players aren't programmed robots. Moves to other teams can transform or ruin reputations. In reality the most successful strikers must have a sixth sense, to start running on to a through ball - or to anticipate a cross - before the playmaker has indicated their intention - and the playmaker themselves know before they play the pass where the striker will be. This only comes with practice and an innate understanding and respect between key players. The body language says everything. My hope is that Franca will be more in tune with Eze and Olise's mindset which means - for better or worse - give him much more game time (ie s*** or bust as my old coach used to say). If it works we could be in for one of the most exciting attacking lines since Wrighty and Brighty. Then, with more goals and points this might (please god) be the trigger and incentive for SP to spend a few bob and fill in the missing gaps necessary to make us top quartile team.

You may have some points, yet, you and everyone else knows we won't be seeing much of Franca. Schlupp all season more like. France might get 90 or so minutes over the course of the entire season.

Yup, after Franca put that corner into orbit against Spurs, he was dead to Roy for the rest of the season! The manager is a stop gap and a convenient body to fill the role for the owners whilst they muddle on with the rebuilding of the main stand. My money is on Roy being here again next season - no one else will do the role with zero investment.

We will spend next to nothing until the new stand is completed - the quicker everyone realises that the better we can move on and make do with what we have. Until then, keep your fingers crossed!

Most likely, and we'll be Championship fodder by that time. Parish will wonder why, when he had the opportunity, he didn't invest in the right type of player at the right time.

Probably right unfortunately. I blame Mrs Hodgson, I understand she had an aversion to a Brazilian.

Wonder what he will do with Olise then after putting that last free kick into orbit? :-) Franca will play if and when he is good enough. Hodgson obviously feels he isn’t ready yet. I expect he is correct?

Funny how people see things differently. For me, Hughes has shown over the last few weeks how good he is. Breaks things up keeps things tidy. He wasn't at his destructive best yesterday, but thought he did well. Schlupp for me is a left sided attacking player - if he's anything at all. But yes probably bench utility is his best role.

I actually thought we were decent yesterday. Some of the build up play was exquisite. Just one of those things were bad finishing and a few defensive lapses cost us.

I want Dwight Gayle back. As an aside. He'd be banging in some of those chances Eduoard is fluffing.

Franca looks similar to Dwight Gayle in the few minutes I have seen.

Dont agree with the Eze yellow card. There was definite foot contact. At the speed he was going and twisting he was bound to drop. Where was VAR. What were they looking at???
VAR everywhere is proving it is terrible for the flow of the game and no better than leaving it to the ref and linesman.

We really need to bring in two wing backs in January. It is really bad now. Left and right.

Is that a good thing or a bad thing? I note with interest the stats of Nketiah, who a few here wanted - nothing better than Edouard, and he plays for a better team.
Don't get me wrong, Edouard isn't particularly brilliant, but he is scoring and is responsible for around half our goal tally. What does that say about how we line up and play the game?

It says keep him in the line up until we find someone better. But I very much doubt we can afford anyone better. In the meantime get him to practise ball control. He keeps tripping over it.

Worth noting that the transfer fees alone between him and Mateta come to upward of the £30m mark. Someone in recruitment is doing a piss poor job.

Losing to Everton at home was no doubt a bad result.

We do seem to struggle against the latest Fulham team

Forest result was the best we could hope for given the players we had out.

It does go to show that without Eze and Olise we are relegation fodder, as the have no creativity without them. Although we have been unfortunate with both having injuries at same time, we should count ourselves fortunate that they are still at club.

Again, it all points back to recruitment.

No creative replacement for Zaha (you simply can't include Franca yet).
No decent or even half decent striker brought in
