Blimey you leave a sheltered life. I know lots of people who voted remain and they were not shy about calling us leavers racists.

I didn't mean on the street corner, where idiots abound on all sides. I meant in the national debate.

That’s the point! Border control equates with racism in their view because that’s what they’ve been told to believe. Snake oil in action.

Down the pub maybe, but not in the national debate.

Your first 5 words !

Not much guessing needed.

Even the leaders of the campaign admitted it would take 30 years or more to recover from the economic hit.

But it was all worth it, as we would be "in control" of our decline.

So here we are in the “right wing” palace forum talking about a policy that will never happen in any significant numbers if at all.

A policy designed to kick the can down the road and placate populism.

The Tories want mass immigration the same as every other political party. They have proved this time and time again.

From memory in two years of “pandemic” we have had something like 335,000 immigrants added to these islands. Yet people still will not stand up for themselves and their own (and their children) interests.

Concrete over England and prepare for balkanisation.

Can we ‘leave’ Islam seeing as there’s a reminder it’s here on every high street now - Burkhas everywhere.

I believe the Swiss had a referendum. You can guess the result.

One idiot on QT doesn't equal a debate.

There isn't the slightest actual evidence for such an assertion!

Why would any party pursue such a policy? I have heard plenty of fanciful theories, like immigrants vote socialist etc, but the damage to Labour in their traditional heartlands is much greater than any perceived benefit. For the Tories, there is even less reason to deliberately encourage "mass" immigration.

We saw an influx from Eastern Europe as a consequence of their countries joining the EU, which has now gone into reverse.

We face an intractable illegal immigrant problem, for which no easy answers are available. Among them are some genuine refugees deserving of a humanitarian response.

We face a continuing skill shortage in certain sectors, most notably the health service, exacerbated by returning Eastern Europeans and local staff suffering from pandemic burn-out. Lots and lots of "international nurses" have been, and still are being, recruited from Africa and the Philippines.

That's not a policy! It's a response to events, Brexit being one of them. If we had the trained local people available, then they would be employed, but they aren't. There aren't the training places available, and in any case many of our current unemployed are unemployable.

There is a much deeper, systemic societal failure at the root of our problems. Immigration is just part of the evidence for that. It starts with education, teaching respect for each other and the law and it will take generations to solve.

The societal failure is the fault of the last 30 years of government of both sides. Telling chavvies that they can have what they want, do what they want, and NO is a bad word.
Until that is sorted and the uneducated are forcibly educated (hypothetical) nothing will change.
