We arent going down… if we had lost last night I would have entertained the possibility and even then it would have been unlikely. But, nah, not going to happen. 9 pts clear and in 11th (so, crucially, lot of teams between us). I doubt Villa and Leicester fans are thinking about relegation, but I suppose they have games in hand (especially Leicester). I don’t anticipate us getting a result against Burnley. I would take a point (and actually think that’s a likely result). Draws against Norwich and Brentford weren’t great but not losing them was important as we maintained the distance between us and them. Same with the Burnley game in my mind.

Ridiculous to suggest we could go down (even before last night). We're a strong side now. I always think goal difference is a good indicator of how good you are and that puts us joint 8th - which I think is about right. It's for this reason I'm certain Burnley will stay up and why I think Leeds will go down. I think Newcastle's new signings will just save them.

We definitely need to avoid defeat on Saturday. I think we can win, and scoring first could be key. Dyche will target us at set pieces so we need to be switched on. Norwich and Watford now looked doomed, however, the 3rd spot is up for grabs. I never thought Burnley would go down and Newcastle were always going to spend in Jan so that should see them safe too. Leeds and Brentford must be worried, however, a couple more wins for Palace will give us some breathing space. March looks a hard month so April is key IMHO

Cannot help but thinking however it would be quintessentially modern Palace for us to get through March OK, having expected the worse, then pick up a few decent results in April, forever flirting with the periphery of relegation without meaningfully threatening it. Here's hoping anyway, COYP!!
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

We need 7 or 8 more points in 12 games to avoid relegation. It's possible but, thankfully, unlikely. Brentford or Dirty Leeds (IMO) looking the most likely to join Norwich and Watford. Need to remember that we have played more games than all bar one of the teams below us (and most of those above us too).
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |

Actually despite my 50 years of following Palace and not forgetting Oldham and several other unlikely events that scuppered our seasons, the more I see this Palace squad play, the more I'm moving to a glass half-full view of our future in this league. I expect us to hit the 40 point mark yet again this season.

Palace are probably the most consistent team in the EPL. Since the team returned to the top-flight they have finished between 10th and 15th place with points ranging between 41 and 49. I'd be surprised if this season bucks the trend

Further there are too many below us for 7 teams to catch us. We're ok except against the big boys when they play their cards right. Edited by crystal-purley (24 Feb 2022 6.46pm)
Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course). |
