It's more than possible to favour capitalism, but also seek to reign in those who are corrupt or pick our pockets. Governments love to repeatedly find ways to privatise profits and socialise losses. That's a funny kind of capitalism. It's the piggy bank of our efforts, and our money that they routinely dip into when they are bought off on the cheap by companies, rather than advocating for the interests of those who put them in power. It doesn't matter who's doing it, it matters that it happens. And they're brazen with it.

Of course it does - I've no idea why my criticism of this government and it's corruption is being conflated with support for socialism. Agree with the rest of your post completely. This is spot on EDN, a CONservative government that was not stealing the countrys wealth , to line their and their friends pockets for the next hundreds of years, would be a bonus! What certain posters dont get is that just because you call out a useless thieving incompetent government, does not mean you are going to vote for the opposition! There are some decent people on all sides, but this rabble have had their hand in the till for to long, and only the die hard blue noses can"t see it, or can, but can"t admit their team are at it!

This Tory government have spent more every year that they've been in power than any year that the last Labour government were in power. Everything you post is just based on lazy stereotypes with no independent thinking or research isn't it? Still voting tory though

It's pretty much a full-time job trying to keep up to date with the never-ending failures of this Government, but some of this week's highlights; Leaked reports that there were numerous Christmas parties held at No10 last year, when no one else was allowed to see their loved ones - Boris refused to deny it. Hancock got on his high horse claiming that his local pub landlord did not receive any contracts for PPE and it was "a fabrication pushed by the Labour party" - turns out, they didn't directly contract the pub landlord's company, but they did contract Alpha Laboratries to the tune of tens of millions, with the contract stating that manufacturing had to be performed by... you guessed it, the pub landlord's company - Hancock asked to return to the commons to explain why he misled Parliament. Rees-Mogg under investigated by the standards committee over undeclared outside interests... I wonder why he was so keen for the standards system to change. Rotten to the core.

Same applies to ALL politicians, no matter what side of the house.
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

I'm afraid it has just become entrenched, the tories will just carry on not taking any notice. You could touch Johnson & co. at any point and find a fiddle. After 11 years with a compliant civil service and a very large majority why should they not milk it for all its worth.

They are better than us- and so deserve it! £47 BILLION sounds a lot, but its only 47 thousand million, thats not a lot of money the way prices have shot up- NOTHING to do with Brexit- lets stop questioning our government, they are doing their best, and if £47 thousand million finds its way in to theuir families and friends accounts, good luck to them! It will still filter down to the workers in time, whether they get an extra service on their boiler(great place to stash the billions maybe), or buy a bottle or two of port while quashing the hog-and get it delivered by gorrilas or uber eats, thus supporting the new career choice of our school leavers, whether to get a bike or a scooter, while delivering those groceries, go easy on them people, its only money after all!

It's not "the Tories" FFS. It's the entire political class. They have no founding principles that are outside of economics. They are morally rootless. They bat for themselves.

Possibly W12, but they are the main players thieving the peoples pot at the moment, so we can blame them. If Keir gets in, and has his hand in the till, we can blame him, although I doubt that he will ever get in, so might as well blame the government in charge.

Yeah, depressing to say the least. Everyone who is not interested in politics needs to understand that politics is coming for them.
