Benteke should not have come in in this game. I’d imagine PV was thinking he would be good for defensive headers but it ended up being like a man down. PV got everything right last night except his choice of substitutions.

My feeling regarding the subs and I was writing this same post when they scored!

I think PV is playing the old guard as a matter of respect (Benteke) on instead of Olise. Olise coming on would’ve stretched them further and (Cheikh) on instead of Hughes . Hughes made more sense as he can slow play down and hold the ball.

I think it’s a matter of process.

For their goal let's not look at our centre halfs - it's purely down to Guaita: firstly feigning injury when we had a throw and then a piss poor kick centrally that barely cleared the halfway line! If anything he could have held onto the ball a little longer, time wasted, received a yellow for the team, and then punted downfield to the flanks. Really, really poor decision making when the game was virtually over.

Bloody hell why didn’t you apply for the job before we appointed Vieira? It’s a bit late now.

Well, I've just finished a late breakfast, my rage at their last gasp goal has subsided a little so I thought I'd add my two penneth.

Most has already been said, but, we played some delicious football most of the game really. Palace at last look to be an exciting team to watch, and, as much as I appreciated how the previous manager kept us up with hardly any money to spend, PV has taken our style of playing the game to another level. And he's done it quickly.

There were a lot who thought it would be Christmas before we started to see things improve, if at all. So, all credit to the manager for giving us all joy at watching our beloved Palace play football after only 6 PL matches.

Sure, there were faults, but to take pot shots at individuals feels out of line at this stage of the season. Our high pressing is impressive although we still lack sharpness in front of goal, but it will improve.

Just a couple of individual mentions. Gallagher is the epitome of a Duracell bunny. His energy and anticipation is phenomenal. I hope Mr Parish is making constant overtures to Chelsea to buy the lad. He inspires the whole team in my view.

Finally Wilf. I've been a long time fan although recently I have thought his attitude and application have been wanting. It seemed like it would have benefitted him and us to move away. Not now though. He played his socks off last night and looks like the Wilf of old. Again I believe we have the manager to thank for transforming him. Good job.

Disappointed to lose 2 points at the death. But all in all a great game to watch and encouraged that we are going in the right direction.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Over all a really good performance, as in other games, not scoring enough ,means we are far more open to any problem the opposition gives us . In this case , Brighton, did what they had to do keep hoping,. We had no real problem until we created one, and it all came down to .A why, and a Why not. Why with less than thirty seconds to go not kick straight to the line? And why when Guehi, could have put his head on the return ball didn’t he?
All you can say is the Football Gods , came out for Brighton,. Everyone in that dressing room, put it behind you, and give us some more of the general play you have dished up with one or two more goals.

At least we exposed Brighton as the average mid table team they are.

Gutted like everyone else and surprised at the subs.

I would have taken Ayew off and played OE on the right. PV has talked about this so why not give it a go.

Guehi and Anderson are both immense, and are already showing their class.

The Liverpool goals were largely Jairo being Jairo.

And last night was a bit of a freak, should have done better, but in fairness it was a sh!t kick out, a great return ball, ratty anticipated it brilliantly, Kouyate for some reason was between the centre halves, and Guita was in no man’s land.

But please let’s not be calling for Dann and Cahill FFS. Guehi and Anderson are pivotal to us playing the way we do.

I do not think anyone is calling for Dann or Cahill, we just need to develop someone at the back with their leadership skills who can organise the back line and make sure everyone is on the money and not sleeping!

A short summary from my weed mate:

Reflecting on last night: Palace looked very impressive. The high press stopped us being creative. Completely different style from recent years in only a few weeks. They should have a good season

We dropped 2 points in a pretty stupid manor, but they took that chance well. I'm still optimist about how PV is shaping the team.

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything.

I think you're right here. Squad psychology being part of what the process shapes. I.e. new players coming in need to earn their place, rather than going straight into the first team because of the limitations of other players who in a roundabout way earned their place in the team during the previous regime. There's a trade-off here in that we will sacrifice some performance, in the pursuit of challenging players to actively demonstrate they deserve a place in the starting 11. Over time I can see how this approach leads to a better squad overall because no one gets a free pass into the first team - everything is earned through being competitive and hard work.

But I think we're acting like it was a shambles. The CBs played perfectly all night looked more comfortable and assured that I can ever remember at Palace. The team collectively made one minor mistake, plus lets not forget, the ball through, run and finish were all spot on.
