Yep. There’s no possibility of changing these countries permanently. They’re living thousands of years in the past with some new technology and weapons and won’t ever want to modernise. Unfortunately women there live in misery, even if a few here in Britain claim they choose it. Women in ‘70s Afghanistan could wear what they wanted.

The Taliban like to fight. It is what they are born into. It's their sole reason for being.

The only way to defeat them would be to kill every single one of them, and that has proven rather difficult historically.
There are much bigger ideological and practical problems facing us closer to home as Islamic numbers grow in the West.

No doubt, the same with overseas aid. All about greasing the right palms.

Yep. Its how this corruption stuff works. One of the reasons I never really kick up much of a fuss about over-seas aid. It probably saves more British jobs, £ for £, than most other schemes.

Problem is that both sides of the game like to maintain the pretence that it is actually going to help poor people. Always makes me smile when we 'donate' money to countries with their own space programmes. That is pure kick-backs for defence and construction projects.

But we did beat the Taliban. In a matter of weeks. Well aimed air-strikes, some special forces on the ground and helping out the local tribes and they were defeated in double quick time.

Question is around why and how they were able to go from that to some kind of 'Blitzkrieg' s*** in 2021. But without any tanks. Or planes. Or supply depots. Or artillery. And so on and on.

This myth of the Taliban as some kind of super-duper soldiers is ludicrous. The kill ratio, whenever they were in contact with Western soldiers, was beyond silly in the West's favour.

They were, at best, highly organised bandits. Hit and run merchants.

I agree we are better off out of it because it is clear that our current political leadership is incapable of anything of any importance but this entire debacle stinks.

Quite, I don't get it, it defies logic.

I get 'saving our taxpayer's dollars' and 'bringing our boys back home', but surely the american public is well used to all that stuff by now.

Apparently not.

My own take on this is that it became Biden's personal mission, and took him over, to the extent that he would prosecute it regardless of reason or cost.

How can the intelligence be so wrong, it is not as if they are not actually there on the ground.

May sounds like a proper PM to me.

But why has it been so badly handled? All I can see is that it is yet another example of chaos being deliberately created.

For example, there is clearly a UK briefing operation going on tonight which is implying they do not trust the USA with regards to how long they intend to carry on with this evacuation operation.

And also, unverified I must stress, reports of tension on the ground between UK and US forces with supposedly UK forces venturing outside of the Airports perimeter to get people to safety whilst the US hunkers down inside. Now that could well be just the usual BS but I mention it because it only adds to this chaos model I keep on seeing repeated.

Whatever the reasoning, at the moment it is looking like a highly organised f*** up.

Not that many US personnel either seemingly.

It's difficult to really find out what is going on. From what I can make out it's 2 Para, US private security operatives, and also French special forces, venturing out into Kabul to pick people from pre-designated collection points.

There seems to be a joint UK-Irish emphasis with them gathering up anybody else eligible to fly out along the way. The Yanks (82nd Airborne) on the ground, and especially the rank and file, are HIGHLY f***ed off that they are being forbidden from joining in and supposedly a lot of tension between UK and US officers with even claims that 2Para have had to set up and effective observation point in case the US just decides to high-tail it out of there.

But this is only from a variety of reports and claims on social media so please treat it accordingly.

Take your lip balm and man bag with you on your way out of the door, luv. The 'masc flouncer'.

Treat people with respect in life and you get it back. Don't and you won't. It's really not that hard to learn to behave like an entry level decent human being. Try it on for size. Maybe it'll show off your figure.

Return with a bit of contrition in mind. It might do you some good.

Come say that to my face.

It's easy to talk tough on here.

I was off, but you couldn't help yourself could you.

It's ribbing you based on constant talk of 'femininity' while laughably flouncing off. If you can't take a few crumbs for the relentless spades of criticism you dish out to all of sundry then you're in the wrong game.

And again, if you think that physical threats are going to bother me in the slightest then unfortunately you're mistaken. Why are you suggesting that I should be physically scared in some way on account of stating a view that is no more offensive than plenty of stuff you say? I don't give a monkeys toss if you imagine that you're Duke Nukem.

Anyway, I'm not looking to give the mods more work to do, as admittedly I've not exactly been the silent type of late.. so that will be the end of that, from me.. and we can only hope from you.

I haven't flounced off....you just can't shut up with the personal stuff.

You started waffling about the physical stuff not me. As I said If you have a problem with me use the DMs.

Otherwise play the ball, and debate.....because while I have no issues with a bit of this...it's indulgent and others don't want endless bickering....but you just can't leave it.

It's like you want the cards. Well, I don't.
