100% correct. Only thing I'd disagree with is they'll probably get closer to £12m than £15m now.

Sadely bare in mind that the Blackburn owners are the Venkeys. Remember they bought into owning Blackburn believing that Blackburn would always be a Premier side (They didn't know that relegation was actually `a thing`). They also believed once they bought them that they would be able to just pop out and sign Beckham and Ronaldinho! So deluded is probably an accurate description of them.

More recently you have to look at their attitude when they sold Rhodes to Boro. Boro made several bids and Rhodes made it clear his dissatisfaction about hem being rejected and he wanted to leave. The Venkey's held firm regardless and in the end Boro paid up. The Venkey's got what they wanted so, although I hate to say it, there is a strong chance given this experience they will do so again.

Apparently we’ve offered £12. Let them push us to 13 tops. He wants Palace. Don’t think there is anyone to outbid us.

12 quid ? I'm sure if we have a whip-round on here we can get it up to at least a score.

Fair point

One other factor to be considered is that Armstrong was simply the pointy end of their attack last season. They had Harvey Elliot on loan from Liverpool who is - or could be - an immense talent.

Losing both him and Armstrong could require fairly serious reinvestment if they are simply to stand still.

And after I have said that Sky Sports have just broken that Southampton have agreed a fee with Blackburn for Armstrong.

Their bid all in will apparently not exceed 15 mil.

Come on Parish, lets pay the extra 2/3 mil and get it done, this guy could be top class and 15 mil is a steal for this!

If the bid is under £15m and we are actually in for him then I'll be disappointed if we don't match the bid. Got a feeling this lad will do well in the Premiership.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

A pity if it goes through to Saints. I have heard fair AJ comparisons but, with Tekkers, you also have the Heskey/Owen similarities (if they ever played together).

Or he could just team up with Olise, Eze, Zaha...

I know we don't want our draws pulled down, but £20m is not expensive. If we can meet Saints figure, and we really are his preferred club, should we not?

This guy excites. The other player we are being linked with - Nketiah - meh. Do a Google search and the first article that pops up is "Nketiah injured". Predict the "fit right in" posts from half the folk on here.

We have lacked a pointy end for some time.

So many people happy to spend the club's money based on little information or knowledge. There are four parties to every deal: selling club, buying club, player, agent. Who knows what is going on or what figures are being discussed? Who on here has sufficient knowledge or judgement to know how good he is and whether he fits into how we want to play?

Despite all the moaning on here throughout last season about our boring and aging squad the club clearly have a strategy in place, both about the players we want/need and the financial plans. if the worst happens and we get relegated in order to come back stronger then that to me is a price worth paying.

This has been an excellent summer so far, with more progress made than anyone expected. Be a little patient now, hard though that is. Patience will also be needed through the difficult fixtures in the first couple of months. Short termism is our enemy.
