Don't think you will find I have ever used "personal gain and axe grinding" and "mealy-mouthed tripe" or anything quite as insulting in my posts. I try to reason things out rather than just attack the poster. It does, of course, depend on the quality of the contributions. Thoughtful ones deserve, and I hope, receive respect. Others, like those from the poster who has just joined in, do not, especially as they have been preceded by a long series of similar banality. The worst you get from me is "ridiculous" or "stupid" but only when, in my view, there are no better ways to describe things. But then I sigh and, with a piece of scripture, Tell them that God bids us do good for evil; And thus I clothe my naked villainy With odd old ends stolen out of Holy Writ, And seem a saint when most I play the devil. (Richard III, Act I, Scene iii, lines 340–344)

Mealy, mealy, mealy. I suppose I am biased against people who wish to harm my country for their own ends. Those who supported Brexit certainly fall into your bias category, don't they? Many Brexiteers knew full well that it would harm us, but still advocated it because it suited their own ends. Those ends being to restore their concept of "Sovereignty". I am glad we have cleared that up!

The old political trick of anything must be better than this, mixed with some jam tomorrow served with a side of slick marketing slogans. Oh it's certainly opened up another avenue to the future. Unfortunately, it looks rather like the highway to hell than the road to Damascus. The EU isn't perfect and needs reform, but on balance was a better option for modern Britain. As I am quite sure time will prove and when it does opinions will change. In my opinion, of course.

Utter crap. Edited by Hrolf The Ganger (18 Jul 2021 7.40pm) Yours is the crap! And the insults. I have a much longer vision than you appear capable of. We were never going to accept being part of a federal Europe. The EU could not compel it, and we would never volunteer for it. That was always scaremongering by those who claimed the other side were using "Project Fear". What hypocrisy! You don't suck on pasties. Only those who have lost their teeth and cannot afford false ones do that. Maybe that though is why you think you do, as it's familiar to you.

If you were a fish, you would get caught ten times a day. As an enthusiastic and experienced sea angler, I have a fair idea of fish behaviour. You are like a mackerel, easily caught as they snatch at anything that comes across their line of sight. I am more like a wary bass, who has learned to be cautious and consequently grown to a ripe old age. Not been caught yet. Except, occasionally, by the gentler sex. Never by a mackerel. Bass feed on them.

How many is this many because if only 52% of the voters for brexit didn't do it purposly to harm themselves you are wrong!

As someone who has spent a lot of time both in the USA and Asia, as well as visiting New Zealand, Australia, Russia and many other countries and working all over Europe, that suggestion is demonstrably untrue. It actually describes yourself pretty accurately. Why didn't I think of it?

I'm sure your holiday album is full of nice pictures and you have gained a few air miles, but that does not make you an expert on anything. Edited by Hrolf The Ganger (19 Jul 2021 7.45am)
