Yeah but you miss the obvious thing there - unless young Managers are given opportunities how do they create a track record..??

Are you suggesting that we should only ever appoint aged Managers..!!

Like all things in life all good things come to an end and IMO we’ve reached that stage with Roy.

COYP

..we all understand that quite a few of our players are not going to be able to compete for another full season, don't know why you feel this has anything to do with our manager.

Because you posited the existence of a 'Roy in brigade'. I felt it merited a response. Is that ok?

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

In fact I said - say thanks to Roy for all he has done, but time to move on.

On "Boy Wonder" - how do you know unless you try something/someone different..!!

What's your plan - to keep 73 year old Roy irrespective of declining results and performances, then what more of the same for another year - is that really a plan for the future..??

COYP

Our future is to survive until further notice of increased funds to allow otherwise.

Yet when we’re being beaten 7-0 at home by Liverpool, 3-0:against Aston Villa away against 10 men and dire after dire performances in succession are being produced they are nowhere to be seen or heard from..!!

Conversely as today proves my opinion remains constant - irrespective of the result the trend has been on the downward curve for the last 18 months and IMO a more expansive and dynamic Manager would have got/will get more out of this squad than Roy.

That’s my opinion and I’ve been consistent in saying it.

Nothing against Roy he’s done a great job but IMO it’s time to say thanks and move on..!!

Look at the final placing and points gained after 38 games last season. Then look at the current table. Then admit your opinion is not based on actual fact.

Neillo - I can see entirely where you are going with this - so at the end of the season we are comfortably mid table, so what's all the fuss about..??

Which is a true analogy - if you believe that the end justify the means..!!

Then beyond that and probably more relevant if those means are sustainable and therein lies the problem - IMO they are not..!!

LBH - we've had some really lucky results this season e.g. Brighton away for one and then at the start of the season we caught a few teams cold with minimal pre-season preparation.

In between times there have been some really horrific/ turgid performances, where at times we have been tactically totally inept and that's due to Roy.

So IMO it's a simple question do you believe that Roy and his "conservative" and "defence first" tactics, despite us having the 4th worst defensive record in the league is the way forward..

Or do you think a new more expansive Manager with different and more creative ideas is the way to go.

I'm in the latter camp - IMO Roy's race is run and done - but as I said that's my opinion..!!

Today would suggest that when the defensive shackles are released we are a far better team and certainly more entertaining to watch..!!

But it comes down to whether you believe that Roy will continue and build on performances like today or just revert to type..!!

My opinion of Roy is that he just too stubborn and will always revert to type.

Hence I believe it's time for change and that time is now..!!

Agree with this 100%.
Can anybody dispute that today’s second half was an atypical performance when compared to our performances under Hodgson over the last 18 months?
It was a bonus to win the game, but for me the most pleasing aspect was to see how we committed players forward and the amount of efforts we had on goal.
We played with fire and purpose for a change which has become all too rare under Hodgson.
It’s no coincidence that Benteke scores when crosses are actually provided to him.
It’s not as if Hodgson’s caution and conservatism has made us defensively sound and solid with lots of 1-0 wins.
And yes I understand that his methods have amassed us enough points to stay in the league another year and I’m also aware about being careful what I wish for.
And I’ve supported the club over 50 years and watched us in the old Division 3 so am not an aspirational newbie who expects us to be challenging for the top 6.

I'm tempted to think that the players at half time decided amongst themselves to disregard Hodgson's instructions and just go for it, such was the amount of red and blue shirts I saw in forward positions.

Absolutely.

Which begs the question if we replace Roy (which I wouldn't) why bother getting in a new manager at all?

May have seemed ambiguous Glazed, but I'm agreeing with you.
