Just so happens he is a winger with supposedly a massive future. Chance we have missed something there? I can’t believe that when there is a player like this who is obviously available we do nothing about it. He's gone to a German 2nd div club.

I know paper talk is usually rubbish but when you read headlines like, we're Inquiring about players, with less than two weeks to go, or another says we're planning a bid for Antonio 🙈. There's no wonder most fans have had enough. I just hope it's all because Steve likes to unveil transfers which haven't been in the media.

Listening to the RH interview after the Bristol game it sounds to me he is getting very frustrated as we all are with the incoming player situation. IMO SP is putting Palace in a very difficult position to start the season, lack of defenders fit or signed etc. I personally think we are very lucky to have RH in charge as I am fairly sure other managers would have walked due to lack of transfer incoming activity. If we have a bad start to the season I know who in my book will be to blame. Seems to be a lack of support for a very good manager, just my thoughts.

Could it be that they have just picked up the next Jadon Sancho for next to nothing? The reason our finances are so crap is because we don't buy or produce enough decent kids which we can turn into big money.

Yes, obviously no communication between Parish/Dougie and Roy, seems like little if no input on transfers for Roy either, can only end badly.
“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn |

And when we do produce one and turn into big money, people moan about that !

I was told in the week that there could be some transfer activity by the middle of this coming week but of course we will know if this comes to fruition. Overall there has not been too many incoming transfers in the PL whereas some clubs in the lower divisions have been very active, securing loan deals and free transfers.Someone mentioned to me that Northampton have signed 12 players, Brad C 10 players etc etc. Edited by Willo (28 Jul 2019 11.23am)

BBC report that the kid turned down interest from all the biggest clubs (Barcelona, Bayern etc) and four premier league teams because Hamburg were the best option right now for him. They are a big club in Germany, and though they went down last year they still play in front of 50,000 people, and are trying to build a team to win promotion and then develop into a good top flight side. Makes sense for the kid to go there. He'll play every week, be in a side doing well so he'll see lots of the ball, but not be slung straight into the top level of football before he's ready. It's a good pathway. How anyone can turn that into palace failing is beyond me.

Quite simply because we miss out on every opportunity, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out that we fail miserably at buying young talent..... well on second thoughts with some posters on here it does.

I also suspect that had we signed him there would be criticism that we spent a couple of million on some unknown Arsenal player who had never made a first team appearance and development wise was probably behind 2 or 3 other young wingers at the club.
