Gotta admit, it’s all a bit negative at the moment. Isn’t this the time of year when we’re all getting a buzz of anticipation for the new season? We need to get the Wilf deal done and start looking to the future- it’s all very very underwhelming to see us linked with the mediocre squad members of mid table teams and don’t even start me on the third choice goalkeeper! we already had a third choice goalkeeper.....Hennessey! What we need is a 1st choice goalkeeper- we’ve got some cash - go and spend it on a keeper who will make a difference (Heaton). Honestly I hate feeling like this but we are seriously lacking purpose and dynamism in general. We have got to freshen our squad up with quality additions that will keep everyone on their toes and get us lot off our seats. Rant over.

I suspect you will see a great deal of this - supporters leaving in droves well before the end of the match with us heading for yet another abject defeat!

No cause for anticipation this summer. Parish is trying to figure out the absolute minimum we need to spend to scrape survival. We have no exciting new signings. The team's style of play will, if anything, regress rather than evolve. There are no young players in the team that we're excited to see develop except maybe Meyer.

Many clubs of similar standing to Palace seek value overseas rather than buying overpriced English players.
Watford, Southampton and Wolves have had some success with this approach.
However, it can go badly wrong as in the case of Fulham last year who received a very poor return for their investment.
I would contend it hasn’t worked for Palace either from the evidence of Campagna. Riedewald, Sorloth, Jach and Rakip.
Perhaps this is why we’re wary.
Personally I would like us to scout some younger players from the lower divisions here.
Hindsight is a windeful thing, but in recent years why haven’t we tried buying a younger player and loaning him back to the parent club with a view to him being ready in a year or two.
Our transfer policy always smacks of knee jerk reaction and panic.

That’s because it is.

We’re in dire straits with AWB and possibly Wilf & Luka leaving, defenders out injured, strikers who do not score goals, I would suggest probably any existence of enthusiasm from those left and we have very little money to spend in the transfer market, even then we are apparently looking at injury prone players who haven’t played for years which is insane.

I am laughing a little now at some who tried to criticise/mock me for starting this thread but more so dying inside.

I can honestly say though unlike other seasons I am not anxious from any hope or expectation at this point, nor have any frustration at not pushing on as we’ve actually become far worse off.

Any suggestions of boycotting season tickets or saying goodbye to the club my response is cheerio you won’t be missed! I’ll still be there as always as I’m sure many will, though might be less loathed to miss a game or two, I just think a massive dose of reality will hit many fans this season, long term stalwarts and the newer brigade alike.

That said the saga is not yet over this summer and things could take an upward turn, I don’t think anyone genuinely knows what’s going on behind closed doors.... but from my side of the fence the outlook is bleak for now!

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

" Moaning about lack of transfer activity"??

Wickham has extended his contract,McCarthy for a 'bargain' £10 m will probably be recruited shortly,to keep Connor company in the recovery room, and we have signed on a free,a Championship keeper recently released and there is also the rumour that Ayew will be back soon,so hardly lack of activity.
Add to this AWB sold and much speculation over Wilf's future.Freedman and Parish,it seems, has been very busy avoiding the quality signings we desperately need even though many fringe players have been released.

If he really is worth £50m,then our transfer strategy is as bad as Chris Grayling's ministerial abilities, both badly failing.

You’ve finished by saying your opinion isn’t certain, which is of course true. Do you disagree with yourself a lot?

Campana was just not cut out for the PL, good player though.

Rakip was only loan so no loss there.

Riedewald would not have been here without the short lived disaster of RDB.Jach cost reasonably little as well.

Sorloth is is real error in judgement. And yet to balance it Luka has been a gem of a find.

are people just adding luca into this debate for s***s & giggles?

there are zero rumours of him going to everton, only the idea that it idressa gueye goes to psg they may want luca based on him playing with whatshisface at everton for 6 months

who valued him at £50m? could be true as chelsea paid £40m for danny friggin drinkwater

the problem with campana as i remember it was he was to much of a clever player for the rest of the team, he would be looking to play nice 1/2’s or thruballs but nobody was on his wavelength...shame as he looked decent.
