It was a long shot to start with but this forum wouldn't be the same without a relegation panic .

Im surprised Fulham have gone , Uddersfield were nailed on and Cardiff were always going to struggle .Brighton ,Southampton are poor and Burnley playing in Europe has had the usual effect for teams with a weak bench
35 pts will be enough this season

By my calculator if Cardiff continue their present form then we are safe by 0.25 of a point

I think we will be safe now.
We will pick up points slowly but surely and we are a more confident side now that Batshuyi is playing.
I see us with probably 43 - 45 points for sure.
I just hope Brighton get relegated in that last available space and if not them then Southampton!

I don't see Cardiff getting to 34 points from their run in.

Cardiff have 44% of their games to play against the top 6 whereas they have played 28% up to now. Think they will do very well to catch us now.

Swansea were only 3 points off where we are at this point last year.... until it's official and 3 teams are relegated - i am not counting any chickens.

However, i feel very confident of staying up.

This was once a quality forum....

Fun facts - Since our promotion we've had 33 points after 29 games on 2 other occasions, the 14/15 and 15/16 leagues in which we ended on 48 and 42 points respectively. The 48 points 10th place finish being the best we have done this decade, to equal that we would need 5 wins from the last 9 games.

Alternatively in the 15/16 prem. we had 33 points and were 9 points clear of relegation in 15th place, we got 2 wins and 3 draws from the remaining 9 games to finish 5 points clear on 42.

Last year was our worst year at this stage as we had only 27 points after 30 games but then went on to win 5 draw 2 and lose just 1. Also worthy to note is this time last year we had scored 27 goals and conceded 46 compared to this years 35sco and 39conc..
In fact we have never had as good a goal difference than this year and only once had more goals scored (16/17-36gs) and less goals conceded (13/14-38ga) at this stage of the season.

Having looked at the table, it's starts coming to games left rather than points. There are 9 games remaining each.

Cardiff are 8 points behind us, which is 3 wins to catch us.

We still have Cardiff to play in which we should pick points up, which then leaves a remaining 4 games for them to catch us.

Should we beat B*****n on Saturday and Cardiff draw with West Ham, this will leave 3 remaining games for them to catch us with us 10 points clear (3 wins 1 draw) if you understand the above.

Our goal difference is worth a point in relation to all the side around us, even above.

Even if you play on the unlikely side of results, you could suggest the following:

Predicted Points Palace :

Brighton = D
Huddersfield = W
Newcastle = L
Man City = L
Arsenal = L
Spurs = L
Everton = D
Cardiff = L
Bournemouth = D

Total = 6pts

Predicted Cardiff Points :

West Ham = D
Chelsea = L
Man City = L
Brighton = W
Burnley = W
Liverpool = L
Fulham = W
Palace = W
Man Utd = L

Total = 13pts

The above has us winning just 1 of our last 9 with Cardiff beating all teams around them, as well as us.

Palace 39pts
Cardiff 38pts

We should be comfortably staying up this season.

Win on Saturday and we are safe without any doubt whatsoever, IMO.

This is Palace and a few more twists and turns yet, of course...

Last year, Swansea were relegated on 33pts with -28 GD. 33pts with a better GD could have been enough to keep you up (Saints did it with 36pts).

In short: unless we fail to pick up a single point, and get tonked in most games, I am pretty confident in saying we will stay up.

Incidentally, Swansea's end of season form was absolutely abysmal last year; this stage last season they were on 30 pts and only picked up 3 more points from 9 matches. That's terrible!
