His resignation happened at the initial meeting to discuss transfers & the new season (by his admission) before any any such discussion even started. We believed what he said,

The two points that I would make are firstly that all the talk on here was that he resigned as the wife of a friend had been killed in the Manchester Arena attack the night before and when I suggested that I didn't think that was the reason I was shouted down for being unsympathetic and other things.

Secondly he hinted very recently on TV that there were issues between him and Parish but he didn't elaborate

Benteke hasn’t been scoring for over 16 months.

Wickham may never regain fitness or his skills.

And we sign Sorloth and Ayew.

If you think that is a good approach and Parish has done no wrong, I wish you luck.

As for Bromley, I don’t think my granddad would support that as he has followed Palace for decades.

That was my point, you can't blame Parish coz Benteke has a (long )run of bad form, or that Wickam had a serious injury, it happens.Sure Solloth, Agyew and Much are not good enough, but we do have a lot of very good players, plus the recently departed frenchman who was a record buy at the time, and L.cheek on loan last season.
You ignore the all the good signings and highlight the bad.
As for Bromley, forget that, i wouldn't want your grandad to stop following the Palace.

Yeah. The 'bombing' excuse came from an article in the Sun didn't it so probably just BS.

The only time I've heard him be negative about his time with us was when squirming after being questioned on coming out of 'retirement'. Happy to be proven wrong but I just don't believe most of the stuff he spouts - I certainly don't believe he wasn't being backed financially because the spend he generated was the biggest in our history if you include Mama.

Much like Pulis before him, I think he's a self-serving liar.

Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five!

He was a perfect fit for the club af the time. We were creating a lot of chances from the wings and 'just needed a big target man' to put the ball in the net.......bit like now really. .there were a lot more people delighted with the signing than I think you remember.

True.

I applauded the signing of Benteke big time as finally dithering Steve got his cheque book out.

The problem is he has not been able to hold onto managers. Therein comes a lack of continuity and a lack of a cohesive approach to recruitment. Pardew vs Pulis for example - not looking for the same players.

In this situation the cohesiveness has to come from Parish but he has failed.

Sakho was immense last year but the money we paid for him is questionable. With that money we could have brought in a high end attacking option. Benteke was good business. Wickham, at the time, was a good signing.

Parish has been unlucky with Benteke and Wickham, but we cant afford him to be half unlucky and half cr&p.

In Parish's entire tenure when have we made a good player sale for big money? Bolasie. But even now if we had Bolasie in the side (a player who many said was their least favourite player to face) our fortunes would be better. He made things happen. He was a game changer, one of Pardew's "mavericks", so to say.

Players tend to come in for money, and leave on a free.

All that aside. We have arguably the worst squad depth in the final third in the entire league.

I think quite a few people questioned the financial wisdom...and so it has proven. Had we gone for two promising championship players for 15m apiece we'd likely be exactly where we are now (maybe even better off if lucky with injuries) and we'd have a shedload more financial firepower left for the transfer market because wages would be lighter (further helping to prevent others demanding more).

Sakho and Benteke were moneyball. Guarantee our status and, ideally, push us up to the top half. They haven't been brilliant by that measure because we're still vulnerable to the drop. And that is not a criticism if the quality of either player (although Benteke's scoring could have been better).

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

I know but the way he answered it was as if we should be thankful because Parish pays for everything. He might be rich but he doesn’t pay for anything, actually pays himseyand his companies more than we thought and he’s nowhere near as rich as the other Prem owners.

Parish seems to take all the flack, but he is only an 18% stakeholder. He doesn't have the final say on spending, it gets approved by the Blitzer and Harris.

The way people like to have a dig at him, you would think he had total control like Noades did, that isn't the case.

You think 2 American billionaires with no experience of the sport can (or should) make the call on whether we sign Alex Sorloth or not?

Parish has said many times, the day to day running of the club is down to him.

Of course the yanks are consulted when millions of pounds is spent on a player but clearly Parish has more to do with which players are signed than the 2 American's who dont know squat about "soccurghh".

Their buy in, investment and dilution of shares of the others of 2010 doesn’t seem as straight forward as it first seemed, what with needing to sell 5 year season tickets in the new stand that appears to be in neutral or first gear at best.

He ‘retired’ as soon as he’d redeemed his reputation after England and his mates in the media were talking to him again. He’d already been backed in January & got who he wanted (despite us having to overpay) & had said he would love to get Mama on a permanent - we did this despite him walking out.

His resignation happened at the initial meeting to discuss transfers & the new season (by his admission) before any any such discussion even started. We believed what he said, paid a bonus based on him stating he wouldn’t be returning to club football & moved on. Turns out he was full of s*** but at least it meant We were due the £2m bonus back.

I think anything that Allardyce says needs to be taken with a big pinch of salt but there's also too much collateral evidence now suggesting that SP isn't the easiest to work with.

Couldn't agree with this less. There was massive clamour for the signing of both Benteke and Sakho. A couple of Championship punts would have left us exactly there already. Transfer fees have got really silly over the last 18 months.

You seem to think the yanks are very naïve, which is surprising. They haven't amassed the wealth they have without being very shrewd with money. Day to day running is very different from large expenditure. The yanks will have other advisors apart from Parish, who is also comes from a business background. So why would they just accept what Parish says on football.

As you said Parish runs the club day to day, but doesn't make the big decisions.
